How do I search for a Greek word in the Church Fathers?
mm
I go into a Bible search pane, start typing in the transliteration of the Greek word I want to type (e.g, g:agape) and when Logos drops down the menu with the correct Greek spelling for the word, I select that, hit Enter, then click on Basic to change to a Basic search and select my Church Fathers collection in the dropdown and start the search. It won't search for different variations of the word because the Church Fathers aren't tagged for that as Bibles are (and I don't think "Match All Word Forms" works for Greek words). But at least you can search for a Greek lemma that way. If you want so search for a different form of the word, select it in the dropdown in the Bible Search tab instead of the lemma form.

Peace to you, Milkman! ...... and ....... ....Always Joy in the Lord!
Here's a screen shot of my searching my Greek Fathers Collection for g:logos
Hope it's helpful .....
I'm going to try it Rosie's way also. If that works, you don't need to have a Greek Fathers Collection!
Thanks, Rosie!
Got 533 results Rosie's way! *smile* It would be a personal choice as to which way is better ... maybe both ways .... will have to analyse my results and see which might be most helpful to me, depending upon my usage....
using a Greek Fathers Collection might be a little "cleaner," but again, I think it's a personal choice... Blessings to Milkman and Rosie!
My way also requires a Greek Fathers collection (which I mentioned explicitly in my instructions). Or you can search in ECF (the English series, which doesn't require creating a collection) for wherever they mention a word in the original Greek. The only thing different about my method than yours is I explained how to get the Greek word typed into the Basic Search panel, which you normally can't do very easily.
Oh, on second thought, I see that the g: prefix for entering transliterations works in the Basic search panel too. But there's a different list of matching words in the dropdown. I don't know what that's all about.
Thanks, Rosie! Actually, when I said I did it "Rosie's Way," I used my normal Church Father's Collection which was not your way at all! *smile*
Now I'll have to study what I did for the future!
Your way! My way! Christ's Way! Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life! Yes!
Frank Sinatra was all mixed up, but he had a nice voice! Peace, Rosie!

this is what I get when I do a search. not sure what I should be doing instead.
Of course, in Logos there is a very limited subset of the Fathers in Greek. There are multiple sets of the Apostolic Fathers, as well as Justin, but few others. If you are interested in this, please bid on the Migne sets - http://www.logos.com/product/28903/patrologiae-cursus-completus-series-graeca and/or http://www.logos.com/product/16530/patrologia-cursus-completus-series-graeca-part-1
Peace, Milkman! I don't think you want to be doing a "morph" search! *smile* Try "Basic"!
Good Night for me in Eastern Canada soon! You and Rosie are Westerners so you can carry on! (Actually I -- and my family -- spent 20 years out West in the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan area!) Blessings!
good night Millford. Speaking of Saskatoon. I pastored in North Battleford. small world. blessings.

It's a small world after all! *smile*
First, enter the transliterated text and get the dropdown which shows the Greek words that match it:
Then select the one you want and run the search:
If you want to do a Morph Search, you have to use lemma: and then the Greek lemma to search for all forms of that word:
As with the other kinds of search, you can enter transliterated text and Logos will produce a dropdown of Greek words that match it for you to select from to execute the search:
now that's what I'm looking for. You sure are the go-to-person!
thanks,

George?? I love it!
You're a man after my own heart. As my wife would say, "mm you're a goof." Don't take that the wrong way George, it's a compliment to you.

George, I had the same thought!
That song is one of the most annoying ones I know, by the way. Once you get it into your head it will not go away for days...
