Apostolic Fathers in Greek and English (Holmes Edition)
I was thinking about purchasing this resource, especially since I own BDAG. Any thoughts? I'm not interested in the 3 collection edition and this seems to be the latest or most current that Logos offers. How will this help my study of the NT and the early church? In regard to protestants versus catholics, how is this resource viewed among different branches of Christianity? I'm just looking for some help on whether to purchase or not and why I should purchase.

If you are not interested in the 3 collection edition I would strongly encourage you to get the SESB 3.0. It has one edition of the Apostolic Fathers in Greek and English along with many other useful resources, including the only electronic edition of the critical apparatus, both Greek and Hebrew. I got it about a month and a half ago and am still drooling over it.

SESB 3 looks like a good purchase. However, that is more money than I want to spend right now. I was thinking that the Holmes edition would be better than Lake or other edition. $43 is manageable. I would like to know what others think about in regard to the apostolic fathers writings. Thanks Alan for the suggestion. That software looks really impressive.

It's definitely helpful. Not only does it give you some near-contemporary reading to the texts in the NT, it is also searcheable with the Greek Morphology Search which makes it possible to see how certain words or phrases are used outside the NT (This is also true for Josephus and Pliny -- Oh ! and don't forget the OT Greek Pseudepigrapha. Need I mention the LXX?). The more sources you have to compare usage, the better. There is information in Holmes' English translation of the ANF which is also interesting and he has some fragements excavated from Eusebius and elsewhere such as Georgius Hamartolus quoted by Philipp of Side so there is value in having this beyond the ANF alone.
