New notes placed in middle of notes file?

When I have an existing notes file and select a piece of text and then add it to the file, Logos inserts it in the middle of the document (give or take). . .? I could understand the beginning or the end but in the middle?

To be specific, lets say I have 10 entries in the file and the last one is on I just finished. I go back to the text (any) and select a portion and copy it to the file. It seems to add it around entry 5/6 which means I am constantly resorting.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I have noticed this behavior as well, however it appears to me that it is attempting to sort the notes by Bible verse. The location into which the new note is inserted does not appear to be arribitary. On the other hand notes not associated with verses have been placed at the end of the file on a regular basis for me.

On the other hand, I do have a couple of other problems with notes.

1. Every time I attempt to do a Find (Ctrl-F) in the note file, Logos 4 stops working - it crashes.

2. In L3 I kept multiple note files - one for notes associated with my Bibles and another for general notes associated to other resources. Altho L4 will allow me to create multiple notes file, I have not discovered a way to switch among them from the right mouse window. So I have been forced to combine them into a single file.

I am no sure I understand your problem. I usually keep two or three notes files open and just hit the correct tab for the one I want.

I confirm the search crash - what a bummer. Has LOGOS acknowledged the crash?

Here is the scenario:

1. Open (or create) a notes file.

2. The new note entries are not added to the bottom of the file. Nor are they added around in reference order.

3. Specific example - I have a note file on Ephesians Study that I have been making notes in as I work thru the book. There are some 15 entries for Chapter 1. I create a new note tied to Eph 2:2 and it inserted in the middle of my existing notes, not at the end.

4. This results in having chapter 2 notes in the middle of chapter 1 notes and so on. I have to manually reorganize them.

O.K. I understand a bit better now. When you are in a particular book the notes will be sorted by where they appear in the text. Once you begin to mix texts it appears to get more complicated. Once the index is mixed up (by getting results separated by those from another text (bible vs BDAG for example) or put out of order it seems to stay confused until you fix things by hand. (running SR7 on Win XP)

How do you fix them by hand? For example, I have a note file labeled "Ephesians 1". I have an individual note for each verse under that file called "Ephesians 1". When I add a new note to verse 4 (for example) Logos 4 might put the note in the wrong order (ie. after a note for verse 15 or after the note for verse 1). I could move notes around easily in Logos 3. How do I do that in Logos 4? Thanks much. Brian

The only way I've been able to figure out how to do this is to have both of the note files open. Then they will both show up as an option to be pasted into.

I just noticed that the note file which shows up in the pop-up is the one you last added a note to (unless another note file is open)

Patience ... notes are still being worked on and have only minimal functionality now. So to move notes around, "stay tuned for news updates at <date/time of your guesstimation within 1st Quarter 2010>"[:)]

Have you ever noticed there aren't icons for sheepish, clenched jaws, faked innocences?
