Bradley, my bad, I saw the post for the updated file for Word 2013 64x, but didn't catch that the version of Word 2013 I have is 32x so now I have replaced the good file with a good file that isn't teh right file.

Try running a "Repair" on Logos Bible Software from "Uninstall Programs" in "Control Panel". It should detect the missing/overwritten Smart Tag DLL and repair it.

I am running Windows 7 with Office 2010 64bit: I just purchased Logos 5 and installed it today. I am not super tech savvy and could use step by step instructions for getting the Smart Tag to work.
I have downloaded the .dll you mentioned in previous post, however, I do not understand the instructions from that point.
Any help would be a blessing.

Press the Windows key then the R key until you see the Run box and then type in the command like the following:-
Instead of C:\SmartTag64 type in the path to the folder where you placed the dll. Then press OK.

I am confused over the SmartTag64 ... I am running Win 7 64bit, Office 2007 64bit.
I am obviously don't understand, and or am not doing something correctly. At least my computer doesn't like how I do it. I made a C:\SmartTag64 ... ran the regsvr32 C:\SmartTag64|\LSmtTg64.dll ... and I get this response: The module "C;\SmartTag64|\LSmtT64.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent. DLL files. The specified module could not be found.
Then I hunted down Logos 5 on my computer--C:\ ... AppData\Local\Logos5\System ... and pasted the LSmtTg64.dll among the rest of the 'stuff' and ran the regsvr32 ... and got the same response.
Yet, if I go into Office\Add-Ins, there is a Logos Bible Software 5 (Bible references) followed by L4SmrtTg.dll. No LSmtTg64.dll. What am I doing wrong?

It could be that the 64 bit dll is only compatible with Office 2010/2013. But try this first:-
- regsvr32 /u C:\ ... AppData\Local\Logos5\System\L4SmrtTg.dll ==> unregister the 32 bit dll
- regsvr32 C:\ ... AppData\Local\Logos5\System\LSmtTg64.dll

I tried your suggestion ... didn't work. I tried the /u switch, but it wouldn't unregistar. Maybe I just need to drop the Logos 64bit and go back to 32bit. Dave

It should work if you uninstall Office 64-bit and install Office 32-bit.

I implemented the suggestions in this thread.
As you can see, Logos shows up in the Additional Actions / Options list in Word 2010..
However, even though a reference is selected, Word's not giving me the option to insert the text.
I am using Logos Bible Software 5.2a SR-7 (5.2.1.0171) and Word 2010 -- Version: 14 (64-bit)
Any suggestions, shy of going backward to the 32 bit version?

IIRC, this means that the Smart Tag is installed correctly.
Other things to check now:
- Are you running Logos? It must be running for the Smart Tag to work?
- Are you running Logos or Word as an administrator? That's not supported.
- Check the other known issues at https://www.logos.com/articleviewer/530

- I am running Logos.
- I am not running as admin. I am just clicking and going.
- The "known issues" page is what sent me to this forum. That's kind of circular. (Actually, it didn't send me here, but I've been there).

Have you tried unregistering the 32-bit dll L4SmrtTg.dll as in a previous post and are you sure you have the correct LSmtTg64.dll?

I just did that. Indeed, the 32 bit was successfully unregistered.
And then I Downloaded the 64 bit on from your link, registered it, and rebooted.
With Logos running, I opened Word 2010 64bit and typed the John 2:1, rightclicked it, and had the same outcome as I had above.

Yeah -- I just called them and the representative said there was no way to do this with 2010 64bit.
To me, that kind of makes Logos something like a Suzuki Hayabusa without a seat. Functional in very exciting ways while being frustrating in the most basic of ways. [:(]

OK -- here's where I am in this.
- I had this working on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine, using Word 2010 32-bit and Logos 5.
- I moved to a Windows 8.1 system, and when I installed Word 2010, I decided to do the 64 bit install. The ability to import text by right-clicking a reference did not work, as indicated above.
- I followed the instructions in this thread, trying to use your 64-bit dll file (LSmtTg64.dll), unregistering the 32-bit dll (L4SmrtTg.dll) The ability to import text by right-clicking a reference still did not work in Word 2010 64-bit.
- I uninstalled Word 2010 64-bit (using "uninstall programs" from the control panel), rebooted, and installed Word 2010 32-bit and rebooted. The ability to import text by right-clicking a reference in Word 2010 32-bit still did not work.
- I unregistered the 64-bit dll and registered the 32-bit dll and rebooted. The ability to import text by right-clicking a reference still did not work.
- I uninstalled Logos 5 and reinstalled Logos 5 and rebooted. The ability to import text by right-clicking a reference still did not work.
Talking to Jon Kaer, he suggested that the uninstall of the 64-bit version of Word 2010 was incomplete. He suggested that I follow these instructions:

I haven't seen any evidence that the 64-bit Office uninstall was incomplete; I wouldn't bother with manually uninstalling it unless we know for sure that's related.
Which bitness of Office do you have right now?
Does unregistering the same bitness of the Smart Tag make it disappear from the list of "Available Actions" in the AutoCorrect options dialog? (It should.) Does it appear if you register the "wrong" bitness of the Smart Tag? (It shouldn't.) Does unregistering the wrong bitness and re-registering the right bitness of the Smart Tag bring it back to the Available Actions list? (It should.)
If my assumptions (in parentheses above) are correct, then we've proven that the right Smart Tag DLL is being registered and is able to be loaded by Word. Then we can troubleshoot why that's failing to communicate with Logos 5. My guess is that its COM entries aren't registered properly. You can fix this by running "%localappdata%\Logos5\Logos.exe /register". Does that make the Smart Tag start working?

I am running Windows 8.1 with the latest Logos 5 updates on a Dell XPS L702X laptop.
UPDATE:
I finally got it to register by moving the LSmtTg64.dll file to the root of the C: drive. I now have the Logos item in the Additional Actions >Options list and all the other options in the main Additional Actions Menu! Yeah!
I did have to close and open both Word 2010 64bit and Logos a couple of times to get the options to show up.

. . . very depressing! . . . I upgraded to Office 2013, 32-bit. Which I think I might like. Anyway, smart tags isn't working. I did the 'windows thing' and went into the inner sanctum. Everything is there . . . boxes are checked. If I go into Word, highlight Romans 1:16, and right click, nothing happens. If I left click I get a drop down box . . . additional actions . . . options . . . which takes me to the inner 'auto correct' . . . everything is checked . . . but for some reasons Word and Logos don't seem to communicate. I did the registrar thing and I got the message back that L4Smrtg.dll was registered . . . but it still doesn't connect? Is there another secret command somewhere?0 -

Hi Bradley . . . I took your suggestion . . . after running "%localappdata%\Logos5\Logos.exe /register" the popup message said it registered correctly . . . but the smart tag still doesn't work. When I 'right' click on the reference [Romans 1:16] . . . the "Office edit popup box" pops up for fonts etc. If I left click on the reference I get the "Office Edit" and a drop-down box with more edit stuff, including "additional actions" which sends me to "options", which sends me to the ' "Auto Correct box".
My Logos Smart Tag is in AppData\Local\Logos5\System\L4SmrtTg. Is that where it is suppose to be?

I have a problem since upgrading to Logos 6, without changing my Win7 64bit or Office 2010 32 bit installations. I could not get the smart tags to work, even by following the suggestions.
But I found that while I had both Logos and Word closed, registering didn't work. But eventually I tried it with them both open, and registering in a command window worked again. [:)]
The path I'm using is: C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Logos4\System\Logos.exe /register which is slightly different to that suggested.

Yes. But the View you have drops the suffix for known file types, so you have to type L4SmrtTg.dll when registering.

Faithlife created a problem by naming the base folder after the version of Logos. So now we have users upgrading to L6 with \Logos4 and \Logos5 folders. If you perform a clean install of L6 the base folder is \Logos.

Hi Dave, I understand. The naming isn't a problem. The main thing I intended to note was that the path was absolute rather than relative. Also, I find it easier to navigate to the folder in Windows Explorer, then shift+right-click and select "Open command window here" and then just type the command e.g. "Logos.exe /register", than entering the long absolute or relative path in the command window. It saves a lot of hassle on occasions.

Not that anybody cares . . . but I finally got SmartTags to actually work . . . after upgrading MS from 2007 to 2013 . . . my hard drive acted up . . . so I pulled it and put in a new hard drive . . . did a fresh install of everything . . . and presto . . . Logos and Word 2013 connected!!!!! It works almost flawless . . . except I have noted that it disappeared for a short time. I re-registered .... and it seems to be okay . . . for the moment . . . so I am a happy camper . . . for the moment
