Mass Prioritize Delete?

Hello I got a little carried away one day with my prioritization and I prioritized my entire Perseus collection thinking that it was a good idea…. (over 1,000 titles)

I noticed after the fact that I cannot mass remove them like I added them. I really don't want to go through every one to delete them all..

Any suggestions?

Hello Curtis,

You should be able to de-prioritize a series by right-clicking it in the priority list. You'll recognize series as bolder in the list:

If you added them by multi-selecting, instead of using the series function, there is no way to remove them all at once. I'm not sure if this is planned to change in the future, but you could certainly suggest it through the User Voice.

Unfortunately I did add them using Multi- selecting assuming that I would be able to multi-select delete them as well... Thank you for your response. I'm wondering if I would be able to find it somewhere in the system's files and delete them directly from there or something.

I don't think there's any way to remove many, but not all, prioritized resources, but if you prefer to start anew with 0 prioritized resources over deleting all the ones you don't want, I might have an idea about how to get you a clean slate.

Logos: it really is absurd with all these places where click > shift-click and click > command-click don't work. They should work everywhere where anyone might possibly need them.

I wonder whether mass hiding them all and then restarting Logos would work? And then unhiding the ones you want to keep. But then you'd have the problem of not being able to mass unhide them because there's no multi-select option for unhiding books. Sigh. Logos, if only you could have more consistency in your UI!

Yeah completely wiping my prioritized resources would be no problem at all. I only have about 10 resources prioritized other than the thousands I accidentally put up.

OK, then I have two possible solutions, but I'm not sure about either of them.

The first I just got from Rosie. If you asked Logos to re-lock the Perseus collection[s ] for you, I would think that should remove them from the Priority list as well. Then wait a couple of days so that they are truly gone, do some minor change to your Prioritizations, and make sure that change syncs, before you re-'buy' your Perseus collection[s ]. (Good thing they're free!) If it works, this should keep your other prioritizations intact.

The second requires some input from either a Logos employee, or some real power user like Dave Hooton or KS4J. Don't even think of trying it without that. But my vague idea goes like this:

Make sure everything is synced (click the sync arrows)
Set Use Internet to No (in Program Settings)
Rename the .db file which includes the Prioritizations (no idea which one that is)
Add something to the Priority list
Set Use Internet to Yes again
If everything looks OK, move the renamed file to Trash

(2 and 4 are to prevent the old file from simply syncing back again.)

But again, this is far above my paygrade, You need someone knowledgeable to give you a 'go ahead', and the correct file name and location. It is quite possible that .db file includes other things as well, things you wouldn't want to lose.

This whole ability to throw thousands (literally) of resources into the prioritized list is really easy to do, and really hard to undo.

I am skeptical that this would work, since prioritization is synced with the servers. If you were simply to delete a .db file, wouldn't a new one just be built by downloading it from the Logos servers?

I think your best bet is to contact Logos Customer Service.

We officially discourage manually modifying DB files in any way and we wouldn't encourage deleting them unless the local copy is corrupted somehow.

I'll discuss this with Development and see if there's something we're planning to change to add better control to this feature in a future update. That would be the best solution, rather than tinkering with sync data.

Every Library prioritization has a sync status and date. When Use Internet is set to Yes, then "old" priorities would sync (and return). Renaming db file while Logos is not running would cause Logos to create a new one, which includes sync of previous settings from Logos servers. Deleting library prioritization also needs to sync.

Nothing has changed from Logos 5 to Logos 6 regarding mass deletion of prioritization entries. Just take your time and delete one by one.
