Highlighting/notes in Version 2.2.12

I am a relatively new Android user (Logos 2.2.12 on HTC One S).  I have tried adding highlights and notes for the first time today, but all I get is a brief message "Markup added" (or similar) but I can't see the highlight or note.

Am I doing something wrong, or has the new version broken this functionality?

    Oops!  My mistake!  I just discovered that there is a setting to turn notes/highlight display on and off.  Problem has gone away!
