Books to Complement Canon Law Collection

Now that we have the Code of Canon Law, and the 1917 version is on prepub, some choices that would be immensely helpful:

1. Heinrich Denzinger, Compendium of Creeds, Definitions, and Declarations on Matters of Faith and Morals. This is the "go to" book in seminary for researching church teaching.

Please be sure to use the latest edition, the 43rd printing! The forward says this is first English Denzinger since 1957, the 30th ed., over a a half century ago. This edition is an exact translation of the 43rd German edition, which added material from the pontificate of Pope Benedict XVI up through 2008, which means Summorum Pontificum par. 1, and the introductory letter.

2. A series of excellent reference books on Canon Law, the most important being the best book IMHO on Commentary about Canon Law, The Pastoral Companion, 4th Edition (do not get older editions!) by Dr. John Huels.

3. Another excellent Canon Law Commentary, New Commentary on the Code of Canon Law

Yes, we need the latest Denzinger, and I would also appreciate my go to book: Neuner/Dupuis: The Christian Faith in the Doctrinal Documents of the Catholic Church. (Unless, of course, the new English Denzinger, which I haven't seen, includes everything that's in there?)

I presume you're aware of the 1917 Code of Canon Law Collection (10 vols.) in CP?

I also hope everyone who's interested in this kind of resources have ordered Vatican Council II: The Conciliar and Post Conciliar Documents (2 vols.). I just cannot understand that it moves so slowly. These volumes are so useful, and my paperbacks are falling to pieces.

I suspect Denzinger is the complete text, in Latin as well as English, of Church teaching. I have had many in seminary tell me this is whaat is always sourced for reference. Amazon summary says:

This compendium of theological-historical source texts, in a bilingual edition, is completely revised and extended to the pontificate of Benedict XVI. With its unique wealth of official church documents and sources, it is an essential resource for theological work.

Since its first edition in 1854, "Denzinger" has become a standard work and an indispensable tool for serious theological work. Peter Hunermann has updated the texts of this compendium and he has provided each text with an introduction. I have the hard back version, it seems very complete; I can answer any questions if you have them about what it contains.
