Well, I took the plunge after sitting out two revisions of Alphas and tried out 6. First, a WHOLE lot more stable than version 4 where I gave up previously. Well done Team Logos. It didn't crash when I opened up the programme for starters and the Library window seemed to work without hanging. It's nice to see the home page start to take some shape too!
My main task of the day was to snatch some quotes from various books that I am incorporating into a paper that I am writing. Copy/Paste works and the footnoting works into Word. I eventually had to quit using Alpha 6 because of a couple of reasons:
1. There is no way to report typos yet in the Mac Alpha version and so I needed to switch to L4 Windows.
2. Some of the quotes I wasn't sure where they were so I was having to use Global searches. The last Global search I used on Mac Alpha 6 was really, really slow. At first when I got the "spinning pizza" as Jack puts it, I thought it hung. But eventually it did write out the results on the page. As I was pressed for time today, I had to leave the Alpha because I needed to keep moving and didn't have time to wait for searches.
3. I also use the citation stuff in the L4 Win resource information page a lot when I am researching. This hasn't been implemented yet for the Mac version.
So all in all a big improvement. I didn't manage to crash it once. I'm looking forward to the day when I can leave the Windows version in permanent retirement!
