Source for large, detailed wall maps of the Holy Land?
Okay, this is totally unrelated to Logos, but does anybody know where I can purchase a large, detailed wall map of the Holy Land? I would like to find a detailed map at least 2 to 3 feet wide and several feet tall (or as large as possible), which shows biblical sites from both the Old and the New Testament combined. It would be good if it was laminated, and revealed the geographical features of the land. I do not want a map that shows the journeys of Paul, how the land was divided among the 12 tribes, or anything like that. Just a map that shows names of cities/towns, geographical areas and perhaps routes that people traveled.
I have searched the web for such a map and came up empty. In fact, out of the very few maps that I did find, most were too small, too cartoonish, or lacked any detail showing only names of major cities and/or areas.
I know I can use Logos to zoom into an area on a map and see the kind of detail that I desire. However, when one zooms into a specific area, they lose reference to other points on the map. I've also tried printing a few maps from Logos, but I'm still looking for something larger that combines features from both the Old and New Testament alike. Any ideas?

you might consider using software which prints maps you own in Logos to multiple sheets for posterizing (per this search).

Interesting such a map is hard to find. Also I didn't know Esther was blond. I suppose it's possible (from the Rose Publishing maps site)

Thought I would give everyone an update in my quest. I still haven't found a source...I can't believe it's that difficult. However, I did find some software that allows one to make your own map and then export it. Problem is, you have to buy the license first and support for the software seems to be lacking. It's called "BibleMapper 4" anybody ever use it? If so, what's the quality look like if you export and print it on a large scale?

BibleMapper is a 'go to' for me mainly because the guy goes to a lot of trouble to get the lat/long's right along with topographical features. After that I switch over to topos from Russia of all places.
BibleMapper comes in TWO versions. He calls them 3 and 4. '3' is free. '4' is more tailorable for specific needs.
So your best answer is to download '3', Zoom in. Then 'clip' a piece for your regular art software and print the clip (to check blow-up quality).
I suspect it will blow up fine since I zoom in pretty tight. I like it also since he covers all the way past Italy.
If indeed a clip of '3' prints fine, you'll likely want '4' to get the key locations you want (i.e. delete what you DON'T want). You can select the period, geolographical features, etc.
OT: Ok ... back to Esther. She has blue eyes too. I get the feeling Esther came from Sweden (in the map cover above).

A suggestion:
If you can find the base map you want (regardless of size), you can request permission to make a blown up copy of it for your use only (not to market). Once this is done, you can take the map to a reproduction company and have them enlarge it to whatever size you like.
I used to do this with my floorplans and network maps. Of course, I created the base image myself, so the only permission I needed was from myself and my bank account. :-)
The cost for me was $10 to $20 per sheet and these were basically b/w from visio and autocad drawings. A full color reproduction on glossy may be much more.

When I taught through Archaeology and the Bible, I came across the Master Archaeological Bible Study Map at www.bible.ca/maps/
I had this printed and laminated at my local Office Depot to hang on the wall in our classroom.
Mr. Rudd sells a hi-res file of the map that can be laser printed up to 4 foot by 6 foot, either with satellite imagery or a plain map. He has many other hi quality maps to choose from.

Peace! My Church's Publishing House -- Concordia Publishing House -- has some standard Sunday School and Bible Class material.

Milford, somehow I managed to find 'An Introduction to Organ Registration' at your map site. Only $10! Our church is death on organ music, so I sneak my organ music at home with 4 stacked registers. Mmmm, it's gorgeous.

Thanks Tommy, that's a great map! Though, it might be quite an investment by the time you purchase the high-res file and have it blown up large enough to see all the detail. How large did you make it? How was the high-res (purchasable) file?

We had an artist who, some time ago, attended the S.S. class I now teach. Back then, the instructor had him paint a map of the mid-east on one wall...perhaps 40 feet by 10 feet...and annotate with names. It was a great job, and has been a very useful aide while teaching!
