Why won't this clause search work?

Verb:Worship object:Jesus

I wanted to find all the verses where angels are worshiping Jesus.

I've tried

Subject: Angels Verb:Worship object: Jesus

and that didn't return anything so I was really surprised when Verb:Worship object:Jesus didn't return anything.

    Peace to you!              *smile*

I was spending a little time this evening looking at older posts that didn't get answered and came across this one.  It is a very interesting topic, particularly in light of Hebrews 1:6 -- "And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,

p"Let all God’s angels worship him.""              Then I thought of the Christmas Story and the Angels and Shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem and The Gloria in Excelsis.

So ....      Just for the fun of it I ran a very simplistic search .......... angel NEAR worship   (This really isn't a great search!   *smile*   )

and got 13,293 results in 3,443 articles in 1,262 resources  ....    some of which were VERY interesting and very helpful in my understanding Holy Scripture better          ............            *smile*

One of the most interesting was from the resource

The Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library

    No Ordinary Angel

Celestial Spirits and Christian Claims about Jesus

    Susan R. Garrett

    I realise that most Logos users don't have this resource.  In fact, I've never taken the time to really look at it and study it;

however, I find very interesting and in some areas quite apropos.  If you have it, you might want to take a peep at it!

The Worship of the Lamb mentioned in Revelation is also quite

an interesting study....            so.........        I think I'm going to make a "layout" of these matters and enjoy God's Word!   *smile*

If you want to know who the Angels worship try Subject:An Angel  verb:worship; to prostrate

but Jesus is not the object ("An Angel" is generic and includes "angels").

For those who worship Jesus try object:Jesus verb:worship; to prostrate OR indirect-object:Jesus   verb:worship; to prostrate

but it is not the Anglels who are worshipping!

However, if Logos were not so conservative/inconsistent about the 'quote' we would have a result in Heb 1:6. For God is the indirect object "him" and "angels" is attributed to "Any Deity" whilst it has the Sense of "Angel"!! I doubt that any commentary would deny WHO the angels are worshipping.

Peace Dave!           On this side of the world I'm ready to "hit the hay," since I have to get up in a few hours....

On your side of the world your mind must be "in high gear"!!       Thanks for your post!

If you have opportunity, would you take a peek at the second speaker label in Hebrews 1:6.            Moses???

Will probably check it out tomorrow, but right now "Moses" doesn't sound right unless we consider him one of the prophets at the beginning of Hebrews 1....

Too late to think straight,    so ............        Good Night, Dave!     *smile*

I would have mentioned something if I had the VF turned on. The ESV reads, with Logos interpolations in angle brackets:

6 And again, when he<God> brings the firstborn<son of David> into the world, he<God> says,

                     <<God>><<Moses>> “Let all God’s angels<any Deity> worship him<God>.”

So it is both God and Moses who speak (v.5 has God and Nathan speaking).

My argument is that the Gk ἄγγελος is always translated 'angel' or 'messenger' and that Logos apply "any deity" to only this one instance of ἄγγελος, thereby adopting a bias of understanding from the Hebrew/LXX of the quotation.

Peace!       *smile*                     This is an incredibly important (and beautiful!) portion of God's Holy Word!  I will be coming back to this thread in a few days after doing some studying and research!                    Hope that perhaps a few others might contribute to some of these thoughts......

I'd love to see a sentence diagram of this section ....                 I just downloaded a sentence diagram from the Sentence Diagram group administered by MJ -- the section contributed by Whyndell re. Hebrews 1:1-4 ..........                  Just wondering if anyone else has a Sentence Diagram available for this selection???

From the Sentence Diagrams Group (MJ is the administrator!) I just downloaded Whyndell's Hebrews 1:5-14 Sentence Diagram onto my Logos 5 installation and will be studying this and quite a number of other related concepts for the next few days.

Perhaps I'll come back to this thread later on to see if anyone has any further ideas for this fascinating study.  For those interested in Sentence Diagrams, the "sharing" feature works very well indeed!

Edit:   This is a collaborative sentence diagram; and now I need to learn how that works.  Guess I will ask the lovely administrator of the group, eh???
