Lines in the scroll down area...

I don't really even know how to present this question, but here is my best shot! :-)

I notice when I have a bible opened in a pane (for example), on the right side of the text there are small horizontal lines, almost just a "dash." Some are single lines, some are double, some are light, and some are bold. When I place the cursor over these lines, it opens a small information pop-up window.

Can someone explain what this is and how it relates to the passage and or commentary that I have opened? Thanks.

They are usually called 'visual bookmarks'. The different colours indicate places where there are search results, places in your bookmarks, and parts of the resource you have previously read. If you don't like them, you can turn them off: http://wiki.logos.com/Visual_Bookmarks

In addition to Mark's great advice, the informal term is 'tread marks'. But some people use their Logos so fast, they're 'skid marks'.
