Timetable for Galaxie Theological Journal Library Vol. 15

I wondered if Logos would comment on the forecast for releasing Theological Journal Library Vol. 15 - https://www.logos.com/product/24074/theological-journal-library-vol-15 This went into Prepub in August last year. When Galaxie used to distribute these updates directly, we would get them around December. It's now mid-February and on the orders page there is no indication that this is even on the horizon yet.

Additionally, maybe a more fundamental question needs to be asked. Last year when this happened, it was eight months after when Galaxie would have normally have released the update. Is it that we just need to adjust our expectations that these journal updates are going to come out much, much later than when we used to get them?

If this is a Logos issue, as nice as some of this public domain stuff that is coming out on community pricing is, I would vote for some of that organisational capacity to be directed at having an excellent journal program in Logos that pushes materials out the door on a regular, sharp, rate as more recent scholarship and thought is invaluable to students as well.

If this is a Galaxie issue, would I be better off to contact them? I must confess that now that Galaxie does not directly distribute them, it is not clear what is going on. All it appears to the end user is that the service is not as sharp now that it is running through Logos.

Many thanks for listening. I wonder if there are any other users that look forward to and use these journals in their studies?

I personally really miss the yearly journal updates. Hope the problem can be sorted out soon. This was one of Logos' best selling points in the past - although the work was done by Galaxie. Is the problem ot maybe that Galaxie was getting a lot of shine?

Agreed. The journals are far more valuable and desirable than some of the obscure hundred plus year old stuff being pushed out these days.

I have long used the journals and have been disappointed with the recent dramatic slow down in their development. I know that Logos is trying to release a whole spectrum of products in a timely fashion, but with regular annual updates like this, it seems to me that they might be able to adjust their queue organization to allow these to be released in a consistent fashion yearly.

I try not to watch the development status too compulsively, it only tends to make me increasingly aware of how long it is taking to release the journals since the change over.

Last year in July I raised a thread entitled Journals: The poor cousin that few seem to care about anymore OK it is not July yet, but the old Galaxie service just isn't what it used to be and it would sure be nice to understand what is going on.

We still get yearly journals we just get them 8 months later than we used to.

Journals are essential to doing research and keeping them electronically current just as important! I join in missing the better update schedule we enjoyed with Galaxie Software . . . As mentioned, it would be nice to see what Logos' strategy/priority is here . . .

Out of the thousands of books in my Logos library, the Journals (next to the Bible of course) are the best and most used books in my library.

Last year I patiently waited month after month when it should have come out. Please Logos.... get Vol 15 out earlier this year!

I,too, am disappointed that the Journal collections are being pushed further down the priority list at Logos. Then again, Logos probably isn't making much profit on these anyways.

I wonder what happened. Did many customers drop their pre-pub purchase of Vol 15, or, was there some mix up with the data at Logos? Journal articles are essential for research, teaching, and discussions of topics that are usually not found in other resources such as commentaries. I'm also disappointed that Bible and Spade was dropped from the Journal Library - I was looking forward to the 2001-2008 issues.

I dropped my orders after the vol 15 fiasco. I still access them via the galaxie website. Paying for a subscription is much better than waiting on Logos to put them out. While I would much prefer them to be on L5, I burn through reading them on my tablet.

This journal collection is such good value at $49. It is tragic to see it languishing. At the rate we are going, we will be fortunate to see it go under development before the time we would normally expect Volume 16 to go into prepub.

It is really sad, but other than raise the issue on these forums the last couple of years, there's not much else to do other than just be glad if it ever comes out.[:(]

I know I've posted elsewhere about this, but I don't see how Galaxie could put this product out in a timely manner and now Logos can't. Like I said elsewhere, I pay to use their website. I would come back to Logos in this area in a heart beat if it were not half way through the following year before we get these. Journals by their nature are a time sensitive resource.

@Bob It would be nice to have another update on the progress and if possible, thoughts on if this will happen again next year and if journals simply aren't cost effective enough to be a higher priority?
