Does anyone own this? Opinions?
No one, really?
I was looking at Mentor's Ezra-Nehemiah volume authored by Tiberius Rata. I had never heard of this series or this author until recently, however, this particular book got a rave review from John J. Davis who I have great respect for.
This commentary on Ezra and Nehemiah is superbly written, beautifully illustrated and carefully documented. Dr. Rata has provided the student of Scripture with a thoughtful commentary on Ezra and Nehemiah that is holistic in approach. He skillfully weaves together matters of the Hebrew text, historical backgrounds, theology and archaeological discoveries. Also not forgotten are the practical needs of the contemporary Christian. This is a book suitable for the classroom, pastor's office, or the scholar's study.

Josh,
I enjoy them. They stay close to the text and I find them informative. It is somewhat like the EP series if you are familar with it. Harmon wrote the ones on Psalms and Daniel (I think Duguid and Ferguson are better on Daniel, but Harmon is still good). McKay and Pratt are excellent!!! (of course I work for Pratt, so ... [:)]).
Looks like we crossed posted at the same time ... I have not read Tiberius Rata's yet, but he is a recognized author. A friend of mine at Westminster liked it ... It is on my to read list.

Thanks. I'm not too familiar with the EP series. I'm guessing you're talking about the Evangelical Press Study Commentaries. Those state that they are from a Reformed perspective. Do you know if the Mentor series has a particular theological perspective?
