Need "set up" Link in order to Re-Install Logos 5

Peace to my Logos Forums Brothers and Sisters! *smile* ... and Great Joy in the Lord!

In my heart this morning that Great Joy is being challenged by a heavy heart in that I've messed up my Logos 5 installation. For example, after the last update my library now shows about 3500 resources instead of the 7500 it should be showing. And, other problems!

I'm truly trying to maintain a good attitude and have finally decided to re-install! All my personal books are missing and so much else.

So, it would be greatly appreciated if someone would show me the link where I can start all over again. Please! *smile*

I think I am able to uninstall; however, if anyone has any ideas for me there also, it would be appreciated.

This may be the worst day in my life as a Logos Bible Software User since Springtime 1993 (I think!) What an anniversary! God gives me Joy, no matter what!!!! Praise Him! If someone could help me a bit in the area of happiness, I would be truly grateful! *smile*

When it rains, it pours, Milford. Good luck with getting back on track. Sounds like the library database. In any event, you've been running smooth since 2009, so maybe a trip to the dealer is not so bad once every 3 1/2 years!

Sorry to hear this.

Don't know if you have already started the reinstallation but a few thoughts:

the "update resources" command should check against what you have locally and what you should have and download anything that is missing
reinstallation won't fix the problem with missing personal books - so that is worth exploring a bit further
you mention "other problems" - any details?

I'm just wondering whether there is something which can be done to avoid a reinstallation

Without knowing how/what you "messed up" a re-installation would get back all your resources and documents, but you would have to recompile personal books from the source docx files (if you have those?). Any backup at all?

Peace, Dave! *smile* Thanks for your interest and good intentions! I did back up my whole computer about 6 months ago (at least I think I did! *smile*) and that backup is (offsite!) over at my son's home. I think if my resources at the time were truly backed up, I could scan that drive in case I didn't download all my books that came with me over the many years that I've been using Logos, actually 20 years this Spring!!!! Yesterday and overnight I downloaded about 13G of stuff! It is indexed and everything seems to be running smoothly.

I did check and for sure the valued by me old Barclay Daily Study Bible Series that Logos doesn't sell any longer DID INDEED get downloaded! One of my most precious resources!

I think I messed up by going to stable from beta or default (or the other way around!) -- being quite impatient for the new release. I really did know better, just lost control for a moment and paid a heavy price for my carelessness. I'm truly old enough to know that "haste makes waste" and all that stuff! *smile* And I couldn't find my hidden files to see if my resources were still there before I downloaded again. I need to do a proper backup as I am still learning Windows 8. On my old computer I could find the "hidden files," and will have to learn to do it soon.

Actually, I don't mind re-compiling my personal books .. I have them all in organised folders, and I think I will be a little more selective in the future; since some of my personal books didn't interest me that much after they were compiled. If I have trouble learning where my L5 resources are, I trust that I can check with you! *smile* Blessings!

Blessings, Bootjack! Yes! I think you are correct ............ I think I should have made one more post to let everyone know that I was back functioning "in full strength......" ... which is what happened if you read my last post here in this thread ....

However, I see that I "owed" Dave one more reply ... unless ... I replied in another thread last February ............ that's so long ago to my poor beleaguered mind I am no longer sure of the "niceties" of the situation .... *smile*
