Custom install on SD card - exFat or NTFS?

My laptop has a 100GB SSD drive, and while I would love to run Logos on it, it's not big enough to also support my other daily use applications. For the past year I've been running Logos on an external HDD, and it's worked well enough. Rather than constantly having to plug in an external drive, I thought running Logos on an SD card ma be more convenient until I can upgrade my internal SSD. I ran into a minor snag with formatting; the SD card came pre-formatted exFat. I know Fat32 is discouraged for a Logos install because of indexing issues, but is exFat or NTFS preferable? Anyone have any experience with running Logos on either file system or running from an SD card?

Had a similar issue when moving Logos to a 64GB USB stick drive: needed to re-format it to NTFS to avoid the Fat32 file size limit which caused the indexer to crash once it ran out of space. No such issue one it was reformatted to NTFS.

You could re-format to NTFS given you do not intend it for use in media devices, but staying with exFAT should not present problems and is optimised for flash devices.

I just remembered: FAT32 is not supported as a drive format for Logos 4 data storage, because Logos 4 needs to create individual files that are larger than 4GB (unless your library is very small). You will have to reformat or convert the drive to NTFS in order to use it with Logos 4.

I agree with Dave. There should be no problems with exFAT (the file limitation issue with FAT32 doesn't apply). This post suggests there could be a performance benefit with exFAT: http://blog.testfreaks.com/information/usb-flash-drive-comparison-part-2-fat32-vs-ntfs-vs-exfat/
