gesenius with Strongs
is there any way to get to a word in Gesenius from Strongs or any other resource in libronix with out knowing hebrew.
I have a printed version of gesenius with strongs no.'s beside the hebrew word but want to use Libronix to look up words

I don't think John read the whole post, You only have a hard copy of Gesenius.
I'd be worth it to spend the dough and get the Libronix software version.
But till then... try this... (maybe someone else knows a better way)
Down load the Digital Libronix version from the web site... you don't need to pay for it.
Categorize it: Tools>>Define Collection>>Hebrew Lexicons>>Modify>> add Strong's and Gesenius
Then use the Basic Search function to search the collection.
Gesenius items will also have the page numbers of the book version and you can laboriously look up each one.
(I've been playing with the idea of using this for the NICOT/NICNT volumes so I can share the hard copies with others).

yes I do have libronix gesenius but how do i get gesenius by clicking on a word in a bible or what bible. In other words i would like to the kjv point to a strongs word then go on to gesenius for deeper root meaning. They say Strongs and gesenius are not tagged what is the best way to use gesenius.

If you have both Strong's and Gesenius/BDB/HALOT in Logos, you can do this, but it's a two step process. What you need to do is to first go to Strong's by clicking on the number. Then you need to right click on the Hebrew (or Greek) word and select "Selected Text" and either "Execute Keylink" or select another of the resources you have as keylinks for the language.

Use any Hebrew bible with morphology and you can make Gesenius your #1 Hebrew lexicon (in Tools | Keylink Options).
Please don't use KJV to get to a Hebrew lexicon. If you like the KJV then stay with Strong's and you may not realise how awful/bad/inaccurate is the tagging. Example Joel 3:1 (Heb. 4:1) the first 5 words are all tagged with the Strong's Number belonging to "in those days". "For, behold" are two distinct Hebrew words but you will not be able to investigate them!

I think it's well-known that I don't recommend Strong's at all, but since there are some irrational people out there who insist on using them, they might as well at least be able to steer clear of some of the major pitfalls. In the case you cite those who stubbornly insist on using Strong's might consider the NASB which has has broken out the words so that it is possible to select the separate elements.

Even if it is better in some areas, NASB uses a modified Strong's Number that is incompatible with Strong's Lexicon in some cases. You have to use the NAS Hebrew and Greek Dictionary.

Thank you George, I didn't know that. Although I don't use Strong's numbers, I like NASB very much. You are right, in Logos I see no need to use Strong's coding. With all the linking and enough original text tools even in the basic sets, IMHO there is no need for that. (not to start speaking about all the great interlinears and Lexham tools [:)] )
