BUG: Most Recent Layout - Local

Unless I misunderstand (which is always possible), I think there is a bug in the "open to most recent layout- local." When I opened my iMac today there was a word study showing which was performed on my MacBook.

If it closed normally it should re-open with "Application Closed" that has a thumbnail image with the most recent date & time. Without a thumbnail the layout is not "local". Can you get a screenshot?

For clarification: When you wrote: "closed normally," do you mean that a crash on the desktop could cause it to open to the laptop's layout?

I dont think this will help you, but just in case. FYI - I thought there might be some sort of corruption with layouts, so I deleted EVERYTHING on both sides of the "layout's" menu this morning after creating this thread. I am used to seeing "application closed" in the layout't menu, although I am often just opening up my computer to where I left off and opening resources as needed. My Desktop (iMac) isn't currently used on a very regular basis, but I have opened it and used it briefly several times over the past couple of weeks. I know that it was used within the past 3-4 days. I was very surprised, however, when my search popped up from my laptop (which is the only way I would have known something was awry, since other common resources would have been open in this layout as well).
Since deleting the layouts this morning, everything has opened to where it left off previously on the local machine. I'll continue to keep an eye on it and report any mischief. I'll also take a screen shot.

Well I almost thought you were just funnin’ and wanting to see what others were doing. But, I am running L4 on a netbook[xp, haven’t upgraded yet] and L5 on my laptop.
I set a layout w/a name and then clicked the sync on the laptop, have the program settings set to ‘local’, waited a spell and started the netbook, once L4 was done loading and after it 'sync'd'– knowing that I had nothing in a layout it opened the layout that was on the L5 laptop……amazing.
Wasn't aware that this was supposed to happen, I reversed the process and the laptop opened what was on the netbook......go figure.

I was wondering what it might do if there was no "local" layout. But then I just checked my laptop and found this:
It is normally set to Laptop 5.A.
Here is the layouts folder from the Desktop:-
Note that Desktop 5.A has the same timestamp (Yesterday 07:53) and appears to be "local" to both machines. And both have a "local" Application Closed layout dated Yesterday 13:25, although one says 1:25 pm! Yet the thumbnails are DIFFERENT.
Things seem to return to normal with the Application Closed dated Saturday 18:49 (= 6:49pm) in that one has a thumbnail and the other doesn't.
I'm not sure how that came about but it is similar to your issue in that I had not used the laptop for a couple of days until yesterday.

was doing this http://community.logos.com/forums/t/66936.aspx in L5 on the laptop, just to be sure i synced again then close.
went to the netbook and started L4 guess what? it was ttthhheeerrreee!!!!!! So it does seem to carry over, only L4 on the netbook is not using any of the L5 features so the clause search 'search' window was blank and slightly different but the search tab was still loaded in L4 - BUG/? or a slight discombobbulation of sorts. makes me wonder if L5 will run on the netbook...../?

L4 doesn't have "active" layout so it will pick up the most recent layout, whether it comes from another machine or not.

That shouldn't happen if it was set to "local".

The behavior you're experiencing is normal because Logos 4 has two settings Use blank, or use last known. There does seem to be a bug between Windows to Mac and perhaps Mac to Mac. The Mac is not respecting the "Last known local" setting that is created in Windows and is instead taking the last known layout from Windows. I haven't tested this Mac to Mac (as Alabama's experience has been). That being said, can you tell me if the opposite is true? Are last known layouts created in Logos 4 on your XP machine opening up when you launch Logos 5?
Alabama , can you replicate the behavior, and post logs of the target target machine that is, and should not be, receiving the layout from the initial machine? That being said
1. Create layout A on computer 1.
2. Create layout B on compute 2.
3. Confirm both are set to using the most recent layout local.
4. Sync on both machines and confirm the layouts are extant on both.
5. Shut down Logos on Computer 2.
6. Reopen Logos on Computer 2.
7. Confirm and record layout it chose. A or B?
8. Repeat step 7 on computer 1.

Thanks, Tommy.
I am not in a situation where I can do this now, but I will as soon a time permits and let you know....
Thanks for looking into this......

That simple scenario works as one would expect.
