Layouts

I am looking for the best way to create layouts to save time loading and Logos 5. Currently I have a very fast computer, however it can take a very long time to load after I do a basic search or even use the sermon starter. It seems like the illustration section takes the longest time to load. Any information that people can give me about how they created layouts save time would be greatly appreciated.

For context I wanted to say that I am a Masters level seminary student and a youth pastor who uses logos both to create messages and to take notes in class and for papers as well. Again any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Just for clarification, maybe a screen-shot of your layout? I'm trying to figure what you mean by 'the illustration section'.

Just for 'diagnosis' purposes, I have 2 layouts; one has about 30 resources and loads in about 3-5 seconds. The other has 90+ resources and loads in about 20 seconds or so. So maybe indeed it's what's in your layout that's the slow down.

I have separate layouts for each book of the Bible (exception: 123John) so that it comes on-screen with the appropriate Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries. Each layout contains 15-20 resources and takes 7-9 seconds to (re-)load. My computer is several years old, and not all that powerful.

The way you set up your resources can make a large difference in the time it takes to load, and to scroll.

Have Library, Search and Collections in a panel of your layout. I have two Search panels/tabs in different panes, of which one is a Search Target ("Send searches here"). Set up a Guide so that sections you don't want immediately are closed e.g. Illustrations.

Before you exit Logos make sure that no Search tab is open (it will regenerate when you restart), and no Info/Lookup tab is open i.e. static resources or Help tabs are best to leave open.
