Error Installing Libronix/Logos 3

My installation was corrupted so that I could not open the Logos home page. I could not correct with update so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Reinstall would not work. I get the following error:

The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll

I have tried everything short of wiping my drive and starting fresh. I have cleaned the registry with CCleaner. I have tried various installs from this website.

I am working on Vista and using Logos 3.0f (on my installation disc) or 3.0g (from this website)

I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

You won't be able to install 3.0f on a modern machine, so I suggest you attempt a brand new installation from here: http://www.logos.com/support/windows/L3/download

If that's what you've already tried, I'd delete Libronix using this link, before reinstalling: http://www.logos.com/ArticleViewer/316

That said, Google is full of ordinal 459 errors that don't relate to Logos, so it may be a Windows problem...

Adding to KS4J and Mark, did you clear your My Documents? (First backing up). Especially the home page content. Also User/account/AppData/Roaming has the caches for Libronix.

Also did you install with your internet turned off (Libronix tries to call home; the 459 error?).

Lastly, Logos offers a free upgrade to 4.6 (Windows XP) or 5.0 (Vista SP2/W7). The free upgrade doesn't over-write Libronix.

Interestingly, My installation of IE9 was halted. From the posts I have read here, I am beginning to thin that the problem may have something to do with my browser. Wonder what y'all think.

Thankfully, my machine is not that modern. But I have installed on here twice previously. Once when machine was new; second when I had to re-install the system. I have used it for years on this machine and now somehow became corrupted. That is why I uninstalled. Now I am not so sure that was a good idea.

Not sure what you mean by homepage or my documents. Do you mean windows? Or Logos? I did not backup anything in Logos as all functionality except "go to passage" had failed. Actually, I would not have thought of anything like that. I have now moved my windows docs to another folder (not sure that's what you meant, but...

Don ... please see what you think of Logos5. After you install it, it IS free ... Logos offers some upgrade packages but that's your choice.

If you don't like Logos5 (it's a powerhouse!), then when you come back, we'll try to fix up Libronix.

But long-term wise Logos5 is going to be your better choice. It also runs on your phone, iPad, etc. plus you can share with others, using the Logos FaithLife.

wiki.logos.com is essentially the go-to for help on Logos5 but we'll help out. It has a list of good tutorial videos, etc.

Libronix uses Internet Explorer for display. Resolving/repairing IE9 (or reverting back to IE8) is prudent.
