Williams the quickest way is to download the engine sign in and leave it alone. To install from scratch go here: http://www.logos.com/installation To install without downloading all of your resources go here. http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers

The L5 engine won't install unless you have L4 already loaded, at least thats what others have said, it needs to see L4 upon setup to load...so you will need L4 first.
Hope this helps

I was about to write a response to this, but you have already covered it. [:)]
I was able to do a complete reinstall on my netbook back in December by uninstalling L4, removing all registry entries and directories, then installing L5 from scratch. I did have the install disk which included the L5 installer.

Ok, thanks. I had to go back and re-read some earlier postings:
So you can load[setup/install] L5 straight to your system[download free engine] without the need for L4 to be Installed, Correct?

Correct if there is no Logos 4 in the computer since before. The installation detects whether Logos 4 is already installed and in case there is overwrites Logos 4:

And[love this word], if not then it WILL load L5 onto the system just as if you were loading any NEW program, Correct?

The free engine was not available when I performed this. Since I had ordered the disk package, I used that. Everything installed flawlessly.
My primary reason for doing this was to get rid of the L4 directory structure and references (it just bugged me). Now I have L5 in the Logos5 directory. [:)]

Yes for sure, just like in the above post:

And no problems or glitches?
No isues that others have been reporting here? IE> layout confusions, crashes, functions not working, searches crashing, L5 completely crashing, got all your notes and documents, etc., etc.
Working almost flawlessly-?[almost, because nothing is perfect]

I am asking because we seem to be reading about a lot of "suddenly crashing" on the forum and I was curious as to whether this was having anything to do w/it. maybe not......
But, in the meantime:
I had a new hd sitting around and put it in the netbook and let Win7 format and install. Did the "Admin" thing and then set a User account w/Admin rights. I did not install any of my usual programs but did do the L5 download and set-up under the "Admin". Checked it this morning and it was half-way through the indexing, so everything associated with this install is coming straight from Logos HQ and it is clean and green. I presume I will have a print issue since there is no printer installed or associated with this netbook.
I did check the file/folder registry and noticed three "Logos4.....*.*" files within the ""Logos5" folder. I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out since I have been told that I: just saying you don't practice safe-computing.
Will keep you informed since others are reading and are curious to see how it play's out, thnks for the info.....

Thanks for the help. I am up and running, though it took a long time.
Great to have this format to ask questions.

I have to agree, having three different folders in the Logos main folder seems really really really redundant.
I have, seemingly, everything except some Lectionary thingamabobs, in the Library. Less the other two folders, things appear to be working as normal. Everything seem to sync as well, except those lection-thingiee's which I don't mind not having. i will run through some more saved custom Layouts later and give you an update on those.....until then....

The funny thing is that, if I hadn't looked at the directory structure, it probably would never be changed, as L5 was working ok. BUT, since I seen L5 using the L4 directory, I couldn't leave it that way. [:)]
