A few issues/questions with the Kindle Fire

I have the first generation Kindle Fire and below are a few issues/questions:

Is there a way to make the font larger under the Bible Word Study Guide?  Changing the font under settings does not do anything. 

A number of my book icon covers blank.  I have removed several resources and downloaded them again, but this still does not fix the problem.  Does anyone else have this problem?

When reading in "Low Light" and doing a Bible Word Study the font is white and the identified word in the verses is highlighted in white making it impossible to read.
