Try one of the methods here: http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers
George
Use Method 3 of the wiki as that avoids another big download and install Logos 5 as directed.

There aren't any BUT's, R4m as it is you who is hindering and blocking sound advice to a fellow user.

What's wrong with these pics?
You appear to be asking why the "PanelExporter" and "ResourceXpsMedia" folders are not present in your new Logos 5 install. The answer is simple: these are cache folders that are created on demand. They will contain at most a few hundred KB of files. You are right in a sense that there's absolutely no point in copying them from one machine to another. However, the "savings" of not copying those folders are dwarfed by the cost of having to re-download all resources.
I think we are done here. [;)] Dave is still da' man!

-why would anyone want to copy a folder that is no longer being used by a program that has been UPGRADED?
i can't answer for anyone else But i can answer for myself. Obviously you would be one who would prefer not to have them. For me I would have no problem copying them because there is no negative side effect to L5, the space the folders take up is negligible, and I would rather copy and paste a couple such folders then spend countless hours downloading with my slow DSL service. I can imagine it being an issue For those who have a limited monthly bandwidth too.

R4m If you want to ask a question or query something, then you do it in a new thread. You don't interrupt another user's query or issue, OK! Dave, maybe you can help me here, What's wrong with these pics? L5 upgrade from L4 -pic1 placment from above- these are from here -pic2 placement from above- And this one: -pic3 palcement from above- 1. You haven't stated what you have done to get here, but I'll assume you have attempted (a variation of) Method 2. 2. Do you have 3 distinct Logos Accounts, because you have 3 User Id's (random numbers) in the \Data folder? This could also come about because you copied the random folder to the Data folder from different installations over time. 3. Method 2 works because it copies the essential Data, Documents AND Users folders to ensure integrity i.e if you have 1 or more Logos accounts in one installation it will correctly copy them ALL to another installation, and the Users folder makes sure the login details of each account are carried over. 4. If you selectively copy different folders because of a perception that they are not needed in a new installation then saving a hundred MB or so is simply not worth it if you get it wrong you run into problems it requires extra time and steps!

Technology is amazing! -NO-, on all your inquiries, this is a LOGOS HQ doing. I have one account, the same account since Logos/Libronix '2', if by chance what you state is correct: -then L5 install on the NEW hd would have generated the same sequential numbering/lettering of account folder(s). -The only thing I copied to the L5 data was the "resources" folder. -If what you say is true then I would have a duplicate folder name "tuct1...." in the same Logos4/data/ since that would be the most current folder by which the upgrade to L5 would have gotten/generated it's information [license, resources, etc., etc.]-OR- it whould have[SHOULD HAVE] overwritten the most current, which would have been the "tuct1..." -other than the last pic, this is the same system. **No manipulation of the pic, no cut/paste to test your savvy. Original file/folder display as would be visible on the screen when going thru the filing system...** Sorry to disappoint you.
-then L5 install on the NEW hd would have generated the same sequential numbering/lettering of account folder(s). A new install generates a new random User Id. So that picture is what I would expect (the Users folder ties your account Signin details to that User Id). -If what you say is true then I would have a duplicate folder name "tuct1...." in the same Logos4/data/ since that would be the most current folder by which the upgrade to L5 would have gotten/generated it's information [license, resources, etc., etc.]-OR- it whould have[SHOULD HAVE] overwritten the most current, which would have been the "tuct1..." If there were problems during the installation I have seen two User Id folders, but not for a long time. The upgrade to Logos 5 should have re-used the "tuct1 ..." folder and you should not have ended up with 3 User Id's! Which means you can delete the "tuct1...." and "ay1xo...." folders in both Data and Documents, leaving the single L5 folder "ua2dsk....", which should also be in both Data & Documents folders. Sorry to disappoint you. To the contrary, I'm disappointed by your reaction to my questions.

Well there were no problems with the initial install of L4, then there was an 'update' of L4 - again no problems, a package update so to speak; then the UPGRADE to L5 - again no problems. So again whats your problem? Maybe LogosHQ isn't as forth coming with intel to you as you may have thought - Maybe they have withheld pertinant config details that are perhaps just too much for you, perhaps<?> AND that is WHY no one from HQ has gotten invloved with our little conversation(s)....perhaps<?> Sorry to disappoint you. To the contrary, I'm disappointed by your reaction to my questions. Funny, I get the distinct impression that you are, I said -NO- seems pretty straight forward to me. I know what I have -you don't. I know what I have and have not purchased -you don't. Why would you want to make a brash assumption that you know.....when the reality is you DO not.[am I talking to XXXX? it seems like it] Moving forward - your assumptions are/were wrong.

Let me check, because that would have the L3 upgrade to L4 all on it, then the appropriate 'updates' of L4. It might take a few hours or so but If I remember correctly, I believe that the same scenario existed.....which always concerned me that I had "dead folders" -be patient, you might be surprised. R4m
This contains the flow of "continuity" thats needed to follow any converation.
I will keep my posts all in one thread for you.
You lose continuity when you insist on shouting (18pt fonts) and boldfacing eveything. (I'm sorry, are you struggling with poor eyesight?)
You lose continuity when you have so many typographical errors or mispelled words in every post (converation.)
You especially lose your readers when you talk down to others.
Now where did I put my wacky graphics box?
Personally, I do not appreciate starting another thread
Except, of course, when you're the one doing the starting: -Problem doing a morph search in the NKJV.

You still haven't figured out that you were the one hi-jacking Ed's thread?
No, I have no intention of contributing to your and Dave's discussion. I only have one computer, onto which I have only installed Logos once, so the subject is far outside my expertise. But I know which one of you I would trust if I needed guidance.

[ and if I am, would not your comment be deemed ""disrespectful"" isn't that what you have been preaching for how many day's now. I knew you would do it....]
As an after thought about my script size. it is what the forum offers so that is what I have to use. Now if they would give me back the ability to use my own like I did before, oh how much more convenient that would be, it would not appear[by using their script] that I was yelling
It is hard to comprehend everyone else is able to post with regular text and you were singled out by the forum moderators to post only in boldface and frequently with caps lock on. Just hard to believe.

I noticed Dave made some comments last eve on other threads and I was hoping that when I awoke today that I would read how this statement he made is not exactly true.
Regardless of what he may think of me - I would still like to read his reply......I don't consider 'silence' here a sign of virtue
