We just need people that bid $15-$20 to raise their bid to $35 - remembering that it could even close at $30 with enough people rasing.

Okay Dave, I raised my bid.

If we can get it over the top by tonight, we have an entire week to drive the price down.

I'm in at $25. That's what it's worth to me, and it's got a much shallower slope than most CPs from $35 to $25. I'm holding out hope that it'll go over at the lower price.

I just jumped in at $25 as well.

Sooo close, but we need $35 bids to get it over ...

I'm not certain how it works, but I am more interested in getting the price down to $30 or even $25, than I am in pushing it over at $35. Let's try to spread the word and get more people bidding, instead of encouraging people to raise their bid. I know this would never happen, but if there is a set cost to produce these CP works, then we could get them for next to nothing if every Logos user would bid on them.

I've been in at $30 for a long time. I tend to practice what I call "guess the price" in which I make an estimate of what it will finally be. I may sometimes be wrong in which case I will raise my bid if I really want the work (I also practice a "let me think about it" approach where I lowball something I have a very remote interest in simply to be notified should it go over the top in addition to the occasional "I really want this approach" where I bid the prevailing amount). I think $30 is attainable—especially since we frequently see the "piling on effect" after an item goes over.

I do the same.

I agree, but considering what you called the "piling on effect" I think $25 is attainable if it doesn't cross 100% too soon.

George -my bidding behavior is similar to yours. I put 15 or 20$ on all of the greek philosophy works (Aristotle and the rest). Happily surprised to have gotten most of them. I bid 35 on this one forever ago. Happy to see it close to the line!

If it goes over with $35 bids it may well be driven down to $30 as more people come in because that level is close to 95% of the cost of publication. If people are reluctant to bid $35 then $30 is the most meaningful bid if coming in or wanting to raise a lower bid.

It is close indeed. Can anyone offer some good reasons why someone who already owns 1988 version of this resource would want to get this one as well? It may help push it over.

Its been a while since I looked it up, but what sold me on it was that it is a classic work. This was the pinnacle of conservative theology in 1935. The great thing about conservative theology, is that it remains largely unchanged over time.
It may not deal with the DSS, or some of the other modern things... But, those issues it does deal with are supposed to have been handled in an exceptional way.
Others may have other reasons... But that is (in a nutshell) what sold me.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

I've been in since day one. It literally only needs a few more people to make this go over the top.

It's just gone over the top at $35.00. We have 4 days to try and get it down a bit in price!

Update: It's over the top at $35 so those who are not in yet may jump on board till Friday - or raise their bids to $35 (maybe the price will drop, but I wouldn't bet on it)Have joy in the Lord!

I still have the same question. I realize that it would represent a more conservative viewpoint in 1915 but how different is it?

John, sorry to disappoint but I don't think there will be an automatic update for you. E4 products were not licensed by Logos.

Does anyone know how this resource compares to the Hastings 5 vol. Dictionary of the Bible? It appears that Hasting's is much longer, and was published only a couple years prior. Anyone have experience with both of these? I'm just wondering if I already have the Hastings, should I purchase this one?

Now's the time for the low bidders to get in or miss out & $25 won't get you there. Bidding closes Friday 12pm PST.

I'm one of those low-bidders on this one because I already have the 1988 updated version. But I finally caved in to bid $35 even though I'm not convinced it is worth having both.

I have the updated version also, although it would be interesting to see the shifts on various subjects during the two printings.

Lot of progress the past few days. Surely we can get it down to $30. I'm in at $35. Love the ISBE!

I wonder why the picture of this resource shows 5 volumes. I read it from cover to cover years ago when I was in HS (or maybe early in college). It was only 2 vols.

It's difficult, if not impossible, to be absolutely certain since that was at least 2-3 yrs ago [;)], and I no longer have it, but I don't know of an abridged edition. I see that on Amazon it is listed as 5 vols.
