Missing Carson Resource

There are 3 D. A. Carson collections in Logos, and none of them have From Sabbath to Lord's Day. I would like to see Logos offer this book sooner rather than later (ignoring that it already is rather late), or at least explain why the book can't be offered.

It's not "by" him in the same sense that all the other D.A. Carson books are. He only edited it, wrote the introduction, and one of the chapters. So that might be why it didn't get the same attention as his others. Also it was published in 1982 (Wipf & Stock reprint, 2000) which is older than most of the other Carson works Logos sells. So they probably don't think it representative of his best work. It is not listed among his major works on Wikipedia (granted that's no source of expertise on the best theological works; but it does say he has written or edited 57 books -- probably in the right ballpark -- and the fact that Logos already carries 51 of them is not shabby).

Don't miss out on the Carson works that are part of the WEA Theological Resource Library, Version 3 and all of his works available on Vyrso to build up the Carson section in your Library. I counted all of those in the 51 figure.

Well, I mainly want the Sabbath book. For whatever reason, it is rather expensive to get, even as used. Right now on Amazon there are 42 used copies available, and they are all priced higher than a new copy when shipping is factored in. Been that way for years. Strange.

I want this in Logos because I expect I will want to quote it extensively, and typing numerous passages from a hard copy is T-E-D-I-O-U-S.

Alibris has a copy for $9.99 + shipping if you can't wait.

Tempting...definitely the best price I've ever seen...but I would end up wishing I had it in digital. I would like to know if this will ever happen. If not, then I will bite the bullet and get a hard copy.

Btw, this book is considered to be perhaps the most cogent excus...,um, explanation...for the change from Sabbath to Sunday.

I have requested from them to make his works available in Logos, and to Logos to get it from them, no word as yet.

I have Bacchocchi's entire set, minus one that was loan out (can't remember who I lent it to).

I do want this book also & have this book on my Amazon's cart for more than 2 years... LOL

I live around the Seventh-Day Adventist community, and by having this would definitely add a great help to my reasoning.

I haven't seen a book as comprehensive as this book on topic of Sabbath.. (please correct me)

Carson's book "From Sabbath to Lord's Day" is probably the most comprehensive topical book on the subject of Sabbath...as in Sunday worship.

If I want to read the Sabbath as Saturday worship.. I could just read their leader (Seventh-Day Adventist's leader) Ellen G. White's books.

Ellen G White's books has more "stuffs" compared to that 1 book of Bacchiocchi

I would like to see Bacchiocchi's books in Logos--I have 4-5 of them--but as usual, it is often an issue of these small publishing houses being willing (or not) more than Logos being willing.

Truthfully, I find Bacchiocchi to be unnecessarily pedantic, belaboring points until the horse becomes glue. Academics can be that way. It makes it hard to get at the point...not that it's hard to comprehend as much as just not having the stamina and patience to wait for him to get around to it.

All that said, since I am already on his side of this issue, I am less interested in his views than I am Carson's...I like to let those on the other side construct their best case...then clear my throat and watch it all come down.

I have Bacchiocchi's book on wine in the Bible. On this, I disagree with him, for a plethora of reasons. One of his main arguments is that the Bible says that too much wine is a bad thing. (It does.) It stands to reason, he says, that such poisoning of a human's system means that even a little of said offending "poison" is still necessarily a bad thing. That is an egregiously BAD argument. Take iron, for instance. Too much...will kill you. Too little...will kill you. You can't say "too much is bad" equals "none is best", BECAUSE IT ISN'T TRUE. Even too much water in a short time can kill. A mother died drinking a whole gallon of water in less than 1-2 minutes in order to win a game console for her kid in a contest. She shorted out her electro-chemical processes and just shut off.

Does that make water BAD, because too much can kill? When people start trying to prove their point...they always will--just not always well.

One correction Mike. Ellen White has never been our leader, (her relation to the church can be found here) and from an academic stand point, Bacchiocchi's book on the subject is top notch. Run a search in your library and see how often his name comes up on the subject.

I would be interested in Walter Rea's book, but not at that price. The link showed some other interesting publications that I was not aware of. Would be interested in getting them in Logos also. Not investing much in paper anymore.

I'm not SDA, though I have friends and acquaintances who are. While Rea's book may have something to say about EGW, I seriously doubt it has anything of value to say about the Sabbath issue.
