OT: Digital Bible Reading research project

Tim Hutchings, a friend of a friend and a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Open University, is researching how digital Bibles are changing our relationships with and attitudes to Scripture. The first part of his CyberBibles research project involves a survey . If you've ever read or listened to the Bible on a digital device (which is probably all of us here), and have 10 minutes to spare, please fill out his survey. It's completely anonymous and only Tim will see the answers.

This went beyond just asking randomly guided questions about one's Bible reading.

OK, perhaps I overstepped by saying "it's completely anonymous" -- it is anonymous in that you don't have to give your name (or even your email address if you don't want to).

I did find it kind of surprising that it asked the name and city of your church. I suppose one could have left that blank or been vague about it (just the denomination and country). Personally, I don't see what that specificity could add to his research. But I also realize he can't tell who I am just by knowing the name of my church.

The email address was clearly presented as being optional, only if you want to hear about the results or participate in the second part of the project, being a research subject. It sounds like a very interesting study so I decided to give him mine. I'd like to hear what he finds out, and I'm open to being interviewed more thoroughly about my digital bible reading habits.

That's the thing about surveys -- don't participate in them if you're not interested in helping out the research enough to answer the questions that they pose.

Apologies for not having gone through the thing myself first before posting about it here, so I couldn't be clearer about what info was asked for.

Rosie, no biggie. It's stated now and some might find it offensive to be asked personal info....I left them blank and just answered the ones pertaining to the writ behind the survey, Digital Bible reading.
