Logos 5 - Windows 8 - Microsoft Surface Pro Touchscreen

I have been a bit disappointed with how Logos 5 performs on the Surface pro touchscreen tablet ... none of the gestures seem to work.

On the home page I can't swipe to get to another page ... must hit the next page button at bottom of the page with my finger.

I can't spread my fingers to enlarge the text ... like I can on this forum ... I thought Logos 5 was designed to take all this stuff into account ... guess not. It would be nice to be able to use the gestures ... esp in trying to read scripture as it would be nice to be able to zoom in on something with a finger swipe (enlarge) to read easier. The only gesture it seems to allow is to be able to scroll up and down the page of a book once it is open with a finger swipe. Something that can't be done on the opening home pages of logos 5.

Just reporting in case the developers hadn't played with Logos 5 in a touchscreen/windows 8 environment.

Steve - I know that there are several other users who have expressed similar concerns. I am sure it is frustrating, but you need to remember that Logos is designed for desktop computers… not for Tablets. Designing the app for touch interface isn't the same as it is for a mouse. I am sure that these features will come to Logos at some point… but I am skeptical that it will be soon… (if for no other reason than there aren't enough tablet users running the full version of windows to justify putting much time into it).

I strongly second this request. I purchased an Acer W510 primarily for the purpose of using Logos 5, because of the numerous limitations in the iOS apps (i.e. very poor performance of offline searches; inability to look up words in dictionaries offline; inability to modify interlinear display in the mobile app).

But my experience with the desktop app on my Windows tablet so far has been extremely frustrating. The scrolling is so slow and jerky as to be virtually unusable; gestures work once out of every 10 attempts; and tapping on menu items (e.g. to get to reading view) sometimes fails; and some windows (e.g. program settings) can not be scrolled at all without using the scrollbar. The "pinch to zoom" gesture that is advertised on the Logos 5 promotional page (http://www.logos.com/features#additional-features) is totally non-existent as far as I can tell.

This is more than a performance issue; considering that Logos 5 was marketed as touch-friendly (see link above), it is more like false advertising.

I agree. Logos needs to be more touch-friendly, especially respecting a simple reading mode. I am using a Dell XPS 12.

And don't even try to highlight text in Logos 5 with your finger. You can't.

Portability is the wave of the future. Portability all but demands touch capability...and eventually, dependable pen input. Logos will get on board soon enough. We are just an impatient lot. [:D] For now we are destined to keep an ultra-portable mouse in our pocket.

Just been browsing all the discussion regarding Windows RT, Microsoft Surface and Surface Pro... what it all seems to boil down to is a need for a next generation touch friendly Logos 6 application with all the bells and whistles of Logos 5 but delivered in a touch friendly UI.

I also use handwriting a lot but I'm disappointed that I can't enter text into Notes anymore, since I upgraded to Win 8.1. Any progress on getting this bug fixed?

As your problem hasn't been noticed you should start a new thread with Bug: as the first part of the title and provide a detailed description (what do you mean by "use handwriting a lot"?).
