Carson Dilemma

I have a question: will the seven books in this Carson collection that is going "live" tomorrow be available for purchase with a March Madness discount? A quick answer from someone is the know would be great. Thanks.

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to the book on 2 Corinthians...it should be a hoot!

Are you able to say why you are not listing which books are being offered for each author like was done a few years ago? It would help us to vote more intelligently.

I would say primarily to

a) prevent us from voting based on prices of the resources themselves

b) perhaps to avoid early user disappointment with the selection leading to lethargy in the contest itself

A. why else would you be voting if they put the same contestants each year? On the other hand, the marketing idea behind this "madness" is to sell books. The reason I participate in this promotion is to buy books. If I can't vote based on value, this is simply a beauty contest. Of course, I can see that if they published the list of eligible resources before the contest, much of the "game element" will be lost, as the list would arrange itself automatically from the highest priced to the lowest priced.

B. So later disappointment is better than early disappointment? I say not. It was largely these "later" disappointments that led me to unsubscribe to absolutely ALL marketing communications from Logos. The only ones I allow now is purchase receipts.

If they are anything like me there is likely a third option:

c) the contest name says it has to go ahead in March and we have not yet had time (other priorities/workload) to get everyone's agreement on which titles can be included, but if we scramble we can make it by the closing dates for each round.... (some titles may have to be dropped if we cannot get agreement by the time an author is eliminated)

There's no hardened reason why we don't post the list of products except it keeps voting oriented on the authors and not strictly prices. We may continue the tournament this way or change it completely.

This is the second year we decided to the try the promotion like this. We've taken the promotion from 64 products to hundreds of products with a unique focus on authors.

Just as others have pointed out, this is one of your best opportunities to grab individual titels without having to purchase a whole collection at a sale price.

I'll be working on a survey to collect everyone's feedback after April 15. So put on your thinking caps and give your best ideas to make this promo even better next year!
