I just purchased this program.
I click on Guides > Sermon Starter Guide, then enter a keyword. No suggestions appear nor does anything happen when I click on the arrow to go.
What am I missing here?
Forgot to mention... I purchased Logos 5
Hi Kenneth! Welcome to the forums. [:)]
My first thought is that you havent allowed Logos to finish downloading resources + index. The index process can take a very long time, depending upon the size of your library and your computer specs.
What package did you buy? What does your computer look like?
Logos 5. And it even did the software update today (which I thought might fix the problem). I did a search on how to get it to index manually, but found no answer. Am running WIndows 7
It has the NIV Bible loaded
Type Rebuild Index in the Command bar, hit Enter and it will manually rebuild the index. Depending on how large your library is, this could take time.
Kenneth, at this point it would be good to get some diagnostic logs: http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
Enable permanent logging, then use the sermon starter and upload the files in your my Documents/Logos Log Files folder as instructed in the wiki article.

Kenneth, you didn't tell us if you bought a Logos base package, and if so, which one. Please let us know.
Thank you! I will do the rebuild now. Much appreciated
My email receipt does not indicate package type.. I bought the $9.99 NIV and the Logos Bible Software 5 engine was downloaded/installed.

Kenneth, no wonder the Sermon Starter won't work. Neither will most anything else in Logos 5. The sermon starter tries to locate information in your Logos resources that would be of help in starting a sermon. Since you have only a Bible there is nothing for it to search. The tool is not a package of data in itself, just a type of search engine that needs data. Does this make sense? You can read and search your NIV Bible in Logos, but that will be about all. Logos does have some other features you'll be able to access, but without a base package or basic library, much will not function.
BTW: If you are disappointed, Logos refunds fully within 30 days. Call Customer Service if that is the case.
Kenneth,
The most satisfactory way for you to proceed is to purchase the Logos 5 Starter package - roughly $300. Otherwise you can get the Logos 4 Minimal Crossgrade ($115) but you will need a couple of "Bible Dictionary" from those listed under Bible Reference in the first link, which could land you close to $200. Then if you want a commentary or two you end up about $300...
Your choice, but you still don't get the full power of Sermon Starter. The rather you get a good Passage Guide + Topic Guide, most/all Bible Facts.
This can get complex but study this wiki article.
