A Christmas Carol - Downloading question

I purchased this yesterday in the 12 Days of Logos Christmas Special, however Logos never added it to my library. I tried "update now" in the command bar as instructed in the blog, but this did not work either.

I was able to get it into my library, but only by manually downloading and saving it to the appropriate folder. This is not a major problem, because it is what I am used to with L3.

I was just under the impression that L4 would recognize a new resource and download it automatically.

Is there something that I need to do in the future?

The command would be "update resources". But it should have downloaded it next time you started Logos 4 after purchase.

Except that Logos4 is now set to check for updates only 1ce per day.

Ronald, I noticed the Christmas Carol purchase was not auto-updating in Logos 4 as quickly as I expected it would. I kept checking and closing & re-opening Logos 4 for several hours to see if it was there yet. I ended up going to my recent orders in my account and downloading it to my Version 3, synchronizing licenses and then it appeared in Logos 4 on it's own. I just dismissed it as me being a little impatient. Maybe it is a snafu in the delivery system. I wonder if it would have installed without my intervention on the Version 3 laptop.

Can anybody tell me from experience what a new purchase download in Version 4.0 entails? All my downloads have been package upgrades or Version 3 installs. How long does it take for Version 4 to add new purchases?

How long does it take: well I can only go from my own experience today. I purchased the Day 2 special (Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary) for which I had already downloaded the L3 file (a year or more back) into my L3 resources folder, even though it remained "locked" awaiting "sufficient funds".

I purchased the download option at today's discounted price and when the purchase was completed the final page where I would normally (in L3 days) download the file and the unlock script to update my licenses, it instead just told me to restart L4 and it would do the rest. I restarted L4 and it was there as soon as L4 restarted and started indexing it ( a matter of a few seconds). I assume it was this fast as the L3 file was already in the L3 resources folder and just needed to be copied from one folder to another on the HD. I then synchronized licenses in L3 and that immediately unlocked the resource for me in L3 as well.

So what that tells me is that adding the license is pretty much "instantaneous" and that getting the resource depends on:

whether it is already available (downloaded but locked) in your L3 resources folder
whether you have it already on a CD or DVD somewhere that you can scan
L4 has to go it alone and find and download it from the logos server

Looks like we have some choice depending on how "urgent" we feel the need for the resource in L4 - if we first download it (the L3 version) to the L3 resource folder, either via a link on the Logos page describing that resource, or directly from the FTP server, we are way ahead. We also get the option after the purchase to browse to our own "My Orders" page and download it from a link there.

I had closed and restarted L4 several times before deciding the download it myself.

I did not know that L4 updates once a day.

I have Version 4 on my desktop without any Version 3.

I have Version 3 on my laptop without any Version 4.

As soon as I had downloaded, unlocked & synchronized Christmas Carol on my Version 3 computer the Version 4 desktop THEN proceeded to download with no action from me aside from opening the program.

QUESTION: If I had used my Version 4 computer to click on the "download & unlock" link in my Recent Order page in My Account, Would that have triggered Logos 4 to download? (I would have had to do this anyway for my Version 3 computer.)
