Suggestion for Collection syntax

Marx Barnes commented in the L4 forum that the collections syntax was limited to 200 characters

He was trying to limit a collection to just the Gospel of John and exclude the epistles and Revelation. It got me thinking, how about a syntax that lets us limit books that have a specific active index (is this the right term?) range in a book. So, if a commentary is tagged with the versification of the Gospel of John it could be put into the collection.

So this syntax could look something like Bibref:john (this would then grab any commentary that deals with the Gospel of John.)

Part of the problem in the length of that collection query is the woeful state of resource metadata ie.

type:commentary (title:john, subject:john) -subject:("1 John", "2 John", "3 John", "John, 1st", "John, 2nd", "John, 3rd", revelation, "epistles of john")

If done properly that could become:-

type:commentary subject:"gospel of john"

without all the negative terms!

But bibleref has the benefit that indexing would determine the actual versification of the resource and the query could become:

type:commentary bibleref:Jn
