A7 - When do we get copy and paste?

To all the gurus working on the L4 Mac, thank you. A7 loaded and worked like a charm. My desperate desire is for copy and paste. Do you know when we might get this for Mac? i ask as I prepare a sermon on waiting for the Lord.

1. highlight the text you want. In this case, I highlighted Romans 5:1-6

2. right click to bring up the Context Menu and select "Reference" from the options on the right

3. Look on the left and click the option that says "Copy Romans 5:1-6"

Try it with a bible ref not a page number ref...different things pop up based on what's highlighted....

Mike, that is because not all books are Bibles like in my example.

You see, in a Bible, the word "Reference" denotes the verse you are trying to copy.

In a book that is not a Bible, there are no verse numbers so "Reference" denotes the page number. and in this example it also refers to the volume number.

So because most people don't need to copy the page and volume number, there is no copy command. To get the "copy" command you need to click on the "Selection" tab. Selection refers to the text you highlighted with the mouse. See, now there is a "copy" command.

In your screen shot, there was no option to "copy" because you were on the "Reference" tab. If you go to the "Selection" tab, you will find the command to copy it.

does that help clear things up for you?

Looks like there is now a "copy" option at the top of the contextal menu. Worked like a charm for copying and pasting from NIV and a commentary just now.

Thanks for asking this question, because I, too, utilize copy and paste as an integral part of my sermon workflow, and was wondering where this functionality was hiding.

While I'm at, great work Logos 4 for Mac team! I am really enjoying what has been done so far and look forward to what is to come.

Please implement Word for Word in the Exegetical Guide quickly; it's one of the major missing pieces for me in the Alpha. I hop back into the old Mac version if I really need it, but it will be great when I don't need to any longer.

Use two fingers on your track pad, that gives you a right click.

Mark, as mentioned above, a two fingered tap on the track pad = a right click.

You might also want to know that two fingers dragged down the track pad scrolls your window. You can find this in your System preferences on your Mac.

The command click option will be added later, but in this stage of Alpha very few, if any, shortcut keys are implemented. That will come in later drops.

Another quick question...

Can I use the resources that came with my Logos 4 package upgrade (Scholar's to Platinum) via the older Logos for Mac 1 interface? It had features that are not yet present in Logos 4 but I cannot figure out how to get the Logos for Mac 1 engine to recognize them on my harddrive.

The folks at Logos can/will mail you a disk which will allow you to use your Platinum resources on the Mac 1.2.2. I asked for it when I upgraded and they have mailed it to me. I just received it today, but will not install in until after worship tomorrow.

Hi Mark.

You should also be able to right-click on the trackpad on the new MB pros. I don't remember if it's activated by default, but just try and click down on the lower right side of the trackpad and see if it's working. If not, go to system prefs.

Just so there's clarity, the gesture on the Mac that is typically an alternate to a right click (for people who don't have two buttons OR for people who don't enable the right-click gesture on their touch-sensitive pointing devices) is Ctrl-CLICK, not Command-CLICK. Command-CLICK is most typically used for multiple selection in a list where the group being selected is non-contiguous (contiguous groups can be selected with Shift-CLICK).

And Ctrl-CLICK support, at least when viewing resources, has already been added internally and will ship in the next Alpha.
