All-in: Logos books for even less

Did you know that many Community Pricing titles would go over the line for less than $5 if everyone who tried CP in the last month signed on? That dozens of titles could go for half or even a quarter of the current leading bid?
This month thousands tried Community Pricing for free: http://blog.logos.com/2013/03/last-chance-to-get-a-free-book-on-community-pricing/
If all these people placed a bid on the most popular CP titles, 12 of them would close at $5 or less.
Half as many people bid on the Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics. If just those active CP users bid on all the popular titles, the following would close at or below $10:
Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (2 vols.)
Friedrich Schleiermacher Collection (6 vols.)
Biblico-Theological Lexicon of New Testament Greek
Augustine's Confessions and Select Letters
Institutio Theologiae Elencticae (3 vols.)
Classics in Empiricist Philosophy Collection (9 vols.)
A Critical Lexicon and Concordance to the English and Greek New Testament
The Classic Greek Dictionary in Two Parts: Greek-English and English-Greek
An English-Greek Dictionary
A Copious Phraseological English-Greek Lexicon
Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities
Hymnology Collection (4 vols.)
Robert Lewis Dabney Collection (11 vols.)
The following would close at $15 or less:
George Wesley Buchanan Collection (9 vols.)
E. A. Sophocles Collection (4 vols.)
Dictionary of Christian Antiquities (2 vols.)
Von Soden Greek New Testament (4 vols.)
The Messages of the Books
Biblical Encyclopedia and Museum (15 vols.)
Classic Studies on Eschatology (27 vols.)
Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography (2 vols.)
$20 or less:
Dictionary of the Targumim, the Talmud Babli and Yerushalmi, and the Midrashic Literature (2 vols.)
Matthew Poole's Commentary on the Holy Bible (3 vols.)
Classic Studies on the Heidelberg Catechism (16 vols.)
Classic Studies on the Atonement (32 vols.)
Neo-Scholastic Theology and Philosophy Collection (24 vols.)
John Eadie Commentaries and Bible Reference Collection (11 vols.)
Classic Studies on the Apostolic Fathers (29 vols.)
Classic Studies on the Parables of the Bible (30 vols.)
Text and Studies: Contributions to Biblical and Patristic Literature (29 vols.)
Post-Reformation Catholic Thought and Piety (27 vols.)
Some of these are large, expensive titles that would come out at well under $1/volume if everyone who 'plays the CP game' decided to go all-in on the most popular titles. What wouldn't you want at prices this low? Why not put at least the minimum bid on every title that has a chance? (The most popular/"bestselling" ones.)

Bob,
I was hoping that this free book was a way to judge non-participation or interest from the Logos community as a whole. I have often wondered just how many are missing out on great deals and consequently we pay more for those we do find. I hope many others are in on books that otherwise they might not be, each according to their budget.

Peace, Bob! *smile* Thanks for this "incredible" thread! I've had some very wonderful and "incredible" prices on Community Bidding throughout the years; and I am truly grateful for Community Pricing and your "plug" in this thread to Forum Users -- since if they respond, it will make my future Community Bidding Purchases even more inexpensive!Bob Pritchett said:Did you know that many Community Pricing titles would go over the line for less than $5 if everyone who tried CP in the last month signed on? My library of over 7,000 Logos Resources is becoming more and more like a very good seminary library.

Just a reminder...Bob has already said that if those who have already bid on the Hasting's Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics all raised their bids to $50, it would probably go into production. It is worth 5 times that amount and much more! Let's boost those bids so we can get this treasure into our libraries!!

During a campaign like this does your research show that a good percentage of newcomers stay around to bid on more resources?

It should, and we'll be tracking that in the coming months.

We all benefit when that happens.

The list of resources from 10, 15 and 20 add up to about $450 for the 30 items.
Yes, if everyone bid on everything [at some reasonable level] they would all get into production at a low price.
BUT
what will happen when the will be shipped emails go out for $450 due next week?
How many of the 30 items listed would be canceled at the last minute?
Question: if we all 'put at least the minimum bid on every title that has a chance' how many will back out?
And what will that do to your sales model? [[Warning: if you see a spike in CP bids in the next few days please ask yourself if they are going to buy or are they just taking your perceived advice to 'bid on everything'? [think latter] ]]

That is not realistic for many reasons. No matter how they are priced and marketed only a percentage of users will purchase regularly on CP. If we want to lower the prices, we need to also look at helping expand the Logos customer base. As the total number of customers increase, then the percentage of users who bid and purchase on a regular basis will as well.
I am a new user (18 months or so). At this point, I am so in love with Logos, I'd be willing to recruit my friends to become customers. I don't know if there is some type of incentive program for that or not.

Having more users will increase the customer base and help with community pricing and the support base and that is a bit of an incentive but I agree that having a formal incentive program could help. I've already told lots of people about Logos but I think incentives may help expand that even further.
By the way, how long can you continue to call yourself a "new user"? 18 months is getting up there! [;)]

Good question. Maybe I should say I'm an ignorant user still trying to muddle through the ins and outs of the software. [:)]
BTW: I always enjoy your posts Bruce.

Thanks Kevin. It is good to have you as a regular contributor now. I must confess that even though I have used Logos for a couple of decades I still have lots to learn regarding how to maximize using it. That's why I spend time here in the forums. Hardly a day goes by when I don't learn more (or re-learn something that I have forgotten).
