Already starting to get frustrated with the new layout.

I may be missing something here but am I the only one who thinks that that the new layout is annoying?

I want the passage guide tucked away on the left hand monitor. I want the bible passage I am studying sitting alongside the page I am making notes on, and I want the commentary I am reading in the middle of the right hand monitor right in front of my eyes.

Every time I have to move this huge, all encompassing, lump round the displays I feel as if I am carrying the books that it shows and that the top one might just fall off and land on my foot.

Did I not read that the panes would be floatable off the main programme - can't happen soon enough for me.

After all the new expose features would work great in that environment.

You can float Panes in the Windows version of Logos 4, separating them from the main window. And feature parity has been promised for the Mac version. So yes, you will get a more flexible layout scheme in the future, just wait for the Alpha to mature.

Yes, I'm very frustrated too. Why can't we move things around easily as we did in v.3. I've saved several layouts and none of them suit me. The library needs to operate more easily so you can customize the panels by simply dragging or closing one "pane" and putting something in its place.

If the current Alpha's UI isn't satisfactory, go back to 1.2 for a while; I really like how each resource is its own window too. Monitor the release notes in this forum as new Alphas come out and then try it again when floating panels get introduced to the Mac version. I know it isn't ideal to have to wait for the Alpha to mature, but it's the only choice we have right now.

Right now in the Alpha stage, the programmers are working on developing the interface for all of the features. The Mac and Windows versions of L4 share the exact same base code, so they share the exact same feature parity.

Layouts were implemented in A7 and so if you want books to show up in certain places, you can save your layout for every time you open L4.

L4 is by far more flexible than L3, but you have to realize it is still in development.

Let me share an analogy with you that might help you understand what Alpha software is. Getting frustrated at this stage is like getting inside a car on an auto assembly line and saying, "the seats are so uncomfortable"

The car does not have all the features promised by the manufacturer because it is still in production. But until the parts are put together, it wont be very comfortable or easy to use.

If you can keep the Alpha in right perspective, I think that will help with your emotions of frustration.

I take your point completely Joe.

The point I was trying to make was that unless something drastic happened to make the the Alpha layout more flexible was that the assembly line was putting the boot (trunk) where the seats should be.

I have however been reassured that the boot (trunk) will be adjustable and we will be able to sit somewhere near the steering wheel if we really want to.

For me that make driving, the car and logos, much easier.

I just talked to the Mac guys, and there is a work around for now. In the library you can select to open a resource in a floating window via the context menu (right click). You can then drag any other pane into the new window. Then save your layout so you don't have to rebuild it every time.
