I've been running performance checks on all the beta releases and, unfortunately, beta 4 has the same performance trouble as the rest. I know it's hard to believe, but the performance characteristics switch between two states: fast and slow. From reading the posts, you know users fall into one of these two camps. Oddly enough my machine oscillates between these two.
I was able to capture video of L4 running in slow mode and fast mode without ANY changes in my system or software. In fact all I had to do was restart L4. The same thing happens if I drag a tab to open a new split window.
To minimize the variables, there's only two windows running (Search and ESV). The video doesn't quite give you the feel for just how slow it gets when you are actually working with the software, but it is enough to clearly see two different modes.
