How to exclude a resource from search without hiding

I do a search on 'john AND "old testament"' and I get pages of citations from all the lectionaries, which I'm not looking for. I use one or two of the lectionaries (for their intended purpose) so I don't want to exclude them from my resources.

Any way to do s search and exclude a resource from that search?

One idea is creating a collection that excludes resource(s).  For example, a collection can have English resources while excluding all Lectionary resources:

Language:English -Type:Lectionary

then can search collection.
