Checking for new library items

Is there a way to force the android app to check for recently purchased items. The desktop version can download them soon after purchase, however the only way I have found to get the android app to check and download new purchases is to force close the app and then when it starts it downloads any new items. Otherwise the new items eventually seem to show up but if I am wanting to read them soon after purchase, there does not seem to be any kind of "sync now" option that I can find.
