Charles Spurgeon's Lectures to my Students, Vol. 4: Commenting and Commentaries
If you trust Spurgeon's judgment and have been active in purchasing the Classic Commentaries and Studies collections on books of the Bible, then this resource has a review for hundreds of commentaries available in Logos.
Specifically -
Spurgeon (and friends) review 1439 commentary works
~382 works are currently available in Logos for purchase
An additional ~75 works are in Pre-Pub/CP in Logos
Of those ~450+ works at some stage of availability in Logos, Spurgeon highly recommends 224 of them.
Most commentary published in the 19th century prior to 1880 (Spurgeon died in 1892) have some mention in this resource. Spurgeon reviews commentaries dating back for centuries prior. He seems to be a great guide post/starting point to research if you've invested in any older commentaries in Logos.This resource would be indespensible if Logos continued to update links to the individual commentaries in one's library as they come available and format the typeset as Spurgeon describes on Pg 61 (though not formatted in the Logos version):
"The reader will please observe that the books most heartily recommended are printed in black faced type, with the remarks in larger type. Good, but more ordinary works are in medium type, and the least desirable are in the smallest letters. Thus we hope the eye will be caught at once by volumes best worthy of attention."

The best book to read in context is the Bible. In it is found the sovereignty of God and the free will of man. Both views should be held in order to drive with both eyes open to avoid driving into one of two ditches. Unfortunately, some sincere believers have tried to figure out an infinite God with finite minds. This has led to many books that bring man-made theology to the text of scripture.
I'm not saying there is not a place for theology books as I love to read them. But man's opinionated theology should be read differently than the Book of books. John 17:17. You are welcome to disagree with my views. I take no offense. In Christ! [:)]

A Marginal Jew (vol. 1) by John P. Meier.
I was hesitant to read this book, but it turned out to be very good. The author is incredibly literate and knowledgeable. He might have sent me to my dictionary a few times, but his work was surprisingly enjoyable!
Note: This comment is only for the first volume. I have not read any other.

Faith, Love and Hope: An Exposition of the Epistle of James by Spiros Zodhiates. It helped me understand some verses better and helped me explain them in a more simple way for hearers to learn. Other commentaries on James are great, but Mr. zodhiates is Super! I guess because of its expository nature. Great buy but it only comes as part of the AMG Bible Essentials bundle.
