Problems with NIV giveaway from prior to April 8th

I honestly thought it meant "download and install before April 8th and get the NIV for free". I did that, on the 4th or so, but had problems logging into my account. I didn't think much of it since the email said nothing about logging in. I got into the Bible portion of the app anyway and tried to find how to choose different versions, etc.; couldn't figure it out and decided to wait.

Life was busy and I didn't get around to it until today. I had been typing in the wrong password and had to reset it. When I finally got in, there was no NIV. I called support and they said since I didn't log in until *today*, I couldn't get the NIV for free.

Now, I don't mean to whine; I guess I understand where they're coming from. But was there *really* anything in the email or on the website that specified you had to LOG IN to the account to get the free NIV? Anyone have a screenshot, etc.

I know it's "only $9.99", but that's not really the point.

In all honesty, I do remember it specifically saying that you had to log in. I set up the free study Bible for a few friends with the NIV and made sure they logged in on each before the 8th.

I would suggest contacting customer support and see if they can get you the NIV - it never hurts to ask.

I did. They said they couldn't help me. I was surprised.

But I guess it is my fault for not reading more closely.

Joe, thanks for the reply. I'm glad, in a strange way, that I am wrong and they are right.

I've gotten better customer service from many other companies. I'm disappointed to say the least. Maybe I expect too much. Oh well.

I think you just asked the wrong person… a sales person isn't likely to be granted permission to unlock a license for you without proper authorization first.

I agree that the email is ambiguous, but I guess the blog is where I saw the specific information that, "If you’re already using the Faithlife Study Bible, simply open it before April 8. That’s it.
