I was playing with searches against open Bibles - NRSV, NAB, JPS ... L4 handles the differences in book sequence very nicely. Thanks.
Glad you like it. If you're running the 4.0a beta, you'll see we've made some improvements to the default ranges that appear for searches as well. If you're searching one bible, default ranges appropriate for that Bible appear. So if you're just searching the NJB, you won't be presented with an 'Apocrypha' range since in the NJB, there's just an OT and a NT and the 'deutero-canonical' books are part of the OT. But if you're searching the NRSV, which has an Apocrypha section, then that becomes a default range. 'Entire Bible' means everything in the Bible, without regard to whether any particular person considers any particular book canonical, but Bibles with a well defined OT and NT that also have other sections (like an Apocrypha or Appendix) will also contain a default range of 'Old and New Testament' for people who want to easily exclude the other sections from their search. Likewise, if you're just searching the Hebrew Bible, you won't see 'New Testament' as a default range, but new options, like Torah and Megilloth become available.
Then, when searching all your Bibles or your top Bibles, the default ranges are chosen by your preferred Bible. So as long as you prefer a Bible that matches your faith tradition when it comes to the organization and contents of the Bible, your default search ranges will match your expectations.
We still have some work to do on custom search ranges, but the default ones should be fairly ecumenical now, in that they simply model the Bible that you're searching, or that you've preferred.

Well done Vincent.

I'm still not sure about this with regard to the NRSV.... The NRSV has many editions with different classifications for "Old Testament"....
We treat the NRSV and the NRSV Catholic Edition separately. The Catholic Edition has the deutero-canonical books integrated with the OT, and does not include books like 3 and 4 Maccabees that are in the Orthodox tradition. The default search ranges for the NRSVCE reflect this organization.

Where's the Catholic Edition?
We made this for the Collegeville Catholic Reference Library, though Liturgical Press's product info page just say 'NRSV', I'm pretty sure this is the Catholic Edition in all the CCRL products.

Thanks Vince.
I haven't got around to upgrading my Catholic Reference Library because the only given option is a 1800 phone number to the US. I don't think they give free calls from Australia.
I may well pick up the RSVCE - never noticed that one....
