I have just bought a new desktop with Windows 7 and am trying to install a second version of Logos 4 but keep getting the error message, 'Warning 1946. Property 'System.AppUserModel.ID' for shortcut 'Logos Bible Software 4.ink' could not be set (it is a third download and installation, but I am not counting the now defunct desktop PC for which this is the replacement).
The 'Preparing to Download' message then seems to stick for an inordinate amount of time (4 hours at the first try an hour and a half on my second attempt at an install).
When I installed Logos 4 on my original (now deceased) desktop (with XP and a modest processor and a measly 2GB Ram) and on my laptop (with Vista, 4GB Ram but no dedicated graphics card) this section of the install progressed swiftly (though downloading and installation took an eternity).
I was wondering if anyone knew whether the error message is crucial (i.e. the programme won't run or install without 'System.AppUserModel.Id'), whether there was a connection between the error message and the lack of progress in Preparing to Download and whether I should be worried over the four hour Preparing to Download delay?
I am trying to install on a top spec PC running Windows 7. I have the new Intel 3.8Ghz quad core processor, a Nvidia 285 2GB graphics card, 8GB ram and 1T on the hard drive. Logos is about the first programme I am trying to install on the new desktop. Oh, and I am using an N Wireless connection so there should be little problem there (I am led to believe!).
(I was toying with the idea of using the work around for installing on multiple computers mentioned elsewhere on this forum This worked a treat in installing on the laptop, but I presumably can't do this until it begins to download.)
Thanks once again for the no doubt excellent advice to come.
