Maybe I'm slow and have missed it, but how does one backup the user data for Logos 4?
Strictly there is no need to do this as L4 automatically does it for you - a process called Synchronization. If you have to re-install Synchronization will ensure your user data and settings are restored.
Practically, I keep a copy of the whole installation folder on a USB flash drive as this contains both user data, resources and the Index, but I use it to sync resources and avoid a large download onto my other computer.
For further reference the installation folder is typically:
c:\users\<username>]appdata\Logos4
Thanks guys. That's just the information I needed. My Logos4 installation folder is over 8Gb, so I backed it on to a backup external harddrive.
Blessings.

Sorry to dig up an oldie...
I am using Windows 7 64 and am wondering what the location is for the user data... specifically the notes that is my quiet time journal. I want to regularly back this up.
Is there a backup utility in the program? The lean and clean GUI/menus seem a little confusing to navigate since I have only been using it a few days so I am not sure.
Thanks, blessings and Merry CHRISTmas

Is there a backup utility in the program?
No, there is no backup utility in the program.
But there should be no need for one either, as all your note files will be backed up to Logos' servers as you create them.
If you want to back them up anyway, they are found here:
C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\[random string]\Documents\Notes
Please note that you will have to be able to view hidden folders to see "AppData."
If you want to back up all your documents back up all the files and folders under C:\Users\ . . . \Documents\
So my personal notes are backed up to the Logos servers?
Yes
In Logos4 all user generated documents (notes, clippings, visual filters, passage lists, collections, etc.) are backed up to the Logos servers. We are told that they are encrypted. The purpose of this is to synchronize your notes for any secondary device(s) you may have.
In the Logos4 EULA we are told "DO NOT STORE HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IN THE SOFTWARE"
If you don't want this to happen you can choose to not allow Logos4 to access the internet (Tools>Program Settings>Use Internet>"No"). However, this will disable all internet access by the program, not simply the synchronizing feature.
Wow... that is interesting.
"DO NOT STORE HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IN THE SOFTWARE"
Nothing like that... maybe my thoughts and prayers/conversations with God during study/quiet time could be considered HIGHLY PERSONAL. Hopefully it is 256bit encryption. [^o)]
Thanks for the info/replies all
Due to the integrated nature of documents in Logos4 it is advisable not to backup a specific document eg Notes, because restoring that alone will lead to a loss of data! Also, the state of documents will be affected by online sync ie. the latest version of a document will replace the backup version!
Backup C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\[random string]\Documents and restore the same, but do it often and never restore an ancient backup.
