Hope for Logos app on an e-ink device?

A new e-ink android-based e-reader was released in Germany last month, that apparently runs Android 2.3. I don't think it's been rooted yet, but if someone can work that out, perhaps we'll be able to get the latest Logos/Vyrso app running on an e-ink device.

I was about to post and say that Sony already had an e-ink tablet running 2.3, but I guess my memory is faulty and it's running 2.2. Maybe there will be a refresh this year.
But I also found this interesting bit:

That's BIG!

Mark, it seems that the Tolino Shine got rooted at last - here's how to do it: http://allesebook.de/firmware-software-updates/anleitung-tolino-shine-root-zugriff-inkl-google-play-32350/ (the user-version, unfortunately in German - the hacker who did it has the technicalities in English: http://naberius.de/2013/06/26/collected-shiny-adb-and-root-the-fc-easy-way/ [probably only for people who read hexdumps untranslated to ascii and compile their own Linux kernels] ). The software kit includes Google playstore and everything one needs to install Android apps on the device.
So commentators are saying, finally you get an eInk tablet for €99.
Have joy in the Lord!

Well spotted! Thanks. I'm going to keep an eye on that, and see how successful people are in installing other apps. If the reports are good, I might just get one...

Just saw a new reader called the crema shine that is said to be running android 4. Should be out later this month. How long until it is hacked is the question...

Nice find. It apparently lists at around $135.

Another update from when I was looking around is that e-Ink are going to release the successor to the current version of Pearl (out since 2010) this year. This one is said to only require a full page refresh every 100 pages (as opposed to 6). Arguably it would be much better fitted to Logos Bible software.
Sony PRS-T3 is also due out very soon! Maybe that will be a better option with an updated Android (they didn't do that between T1-T2, so no guarantees).
I would be surprised if we don't have a much more viable alternative within the next 18 months!
