So, I'm doing a study on the fruitless fig farm, and ran my cursor across the "Megaphone" that identifies the speaker (or the person/group addressed), and the vinedresser in Luke 13:8 is lumped in with the Wicked Tenants who rejected the servants sent by their landowner and killed his son. Now, making allowances for the fact that both stories are parables and therefore enjoy a certain degree of latitude with respect to real world events; it seems precipitous to identify this poor fellow with those wicked tenants. I believe a review may be in order! Impugning the character of a humble vinedresser whose only stated desire is to break up the ground so that the tree may absorb necessary nutrients and water, is heartlessly malicious! Well, possibly inaccurate at any rate.
