Reading plans(s)

I've created a Reading Plan to read through the Scriptures in one year. But for some weird and wonderful reason, I'm seeing it listed to the left side of the Logos Homepage up to six different times. I'm trying to send a screen shot but it won't come up here. Let me give it another whirl.

Well, obviously I'm not able to get a picture in here for whatever reason. What I'm seeing on the left side of the Logos page is Read KJV1900 in one year (6) and below that the same thing with # (5) right down to (1).

Apparently I do not need the same list repeated over and over so again my question is - how can I take those out of there and leave just the one?

Ugh. [:S] The forums have been having troubles with this recently. It's not your fault. [:)]

I assume that you are looking at your "home page." Is that right? It is likely that you have accidentally duplicated the reading plan, with each duplication amending a number at the end.

Reading plan documents are in the "documents" menu. Open that up, and type "reading" in the search bar. This should reduce the list down to only your reading plans (unless you have some other document with "reading" in its name). Right Click on the ones you want to delete and select "delete."

EDIT: My advice here assumes that you do want to get rid of the reading plans completely. If you just want to remove them from the list on the home page, click the "settings" cog-wheel icon at the bottom of the list on your home page… then uncheck the ones you don't want to show up.

Ok - got ya! I did as you suggested - went to the Documents, typed in reading and there they all were. I wanted to get rid of all but one of them. Not sure how I created all them, but I did. I deleted 5 of them and left the one I actually wanted. Anyway, thank you for your help again.

Just another quick question - I see that little tyke (icon) on the left part of my screen goes up till Saturday. Will that move along as the days go by - in other words, tomorrow will I see Sunday and Saturday will I see Monday listed?

I take it the other way to see the actually reading plan is to go to Documents and click on it there, correct?

Yes… If you are keeping up with your readings. Otherwise, it will stay put.

Yes. Dave H. made a suggestion that I thought was pretty neat… He suggested putting the reading plan document in one of the "skinny panels" for easy access from within a saved layout (see screen shot).

If I'm reading you correctly, this means that I'm doing the reading from Logos itself. Actually, what I'm doing, is looking at the reference from the Calendar from within this Reading Plan, and today I see it's Lk 17:1-21.

Tomorrow, I'll look at it again and find it's Lk 17:22-37 and so forth but I'm doing the reading from my Bible (Book), not from Logos.

So in this case, I'll expect that icon to remain the same - next week, it will still be showing Lk 17, correct?

I've used a Moody Bible calendar reading for nearly 40 years and cannot get them anymore. I've lost half of it this past week, so I'll go this route with Logos.

OK. Now it is my turn to make sure I am reading you right... [:)]

Your desire is to have a reading plan in Logos, but to actually read a physical, paper book. Is that right? The reading plan will not advance without action on your part from within Logos. Notice the middle panel in my screen shot above. At the top is the what you could call the reading plan "signs & activators" (I have no idea if there is a real name for them). Once you read through the reading, there is a hyperlink button which reads "mark read." Once you click that, a checkmark is placed in the days reading, and the plan will move forward the next day. You can use your paper book if you would like, but you must "mark read"the reading if you want it to advance.

EDIT: to explain just a bit more... the reading plan that I am showing in the screen shot is a little bit more complicated than a simple "read through the bible" plan. There are four readings each day. As you can see in the screen shot, the first reading for the day is to read Leviticus 22. Once I have scrolled through that passage, there will be a hyperlink to "continue reading"... which will take me to Psalm 28. Once I get to the bottom of the last reading for the day, then I will see the "mark read" button. If your reading plan is like this, you will have to progress through the plan in the same way. If you only have one longer passage to read each day, then you just scroll to the end of the passage and click "mark read."

A low bow of salutary greeting O Alabama24! Your assumption is dead on, so that means you've earned your Starbucks today!

What I have here is pretty straight forward, so it's a go unless I can find another Moody's paper calendar, which I know is pretty well out of the question. Therefore Logos will do the trick. Thanks for your feedback!!!

You might be able to print out the reading plan from within Logos. I have heard of it done, but have no experience doing so. I'm on my iPad now, or I'd check for you.

    That would be ok too, but I have no problem looking at what my reading is for today - I'm on Logos here quite a bit of the time, so no problem. I appreciate your kind help Alabama24 - stay at the keyboard for there'll be other questions roaring your way I'm sure!!!  :-}
