I hope you get an idea or two to implement into your studies.

John, thank you! This was a wonderful video. It's given me quite a few ideas for how I want to setup/rearrange my current expository desktop. Below, I've attached a screenshot of mine, which you can see, could use a bit of cleaning up [:)]
Thanks for the video and the showcasing of a few coming enhancements from beta testing!
Thanks John, you've motivated me to rebuild my own workspaces to take full advantage of the new features of Logos 4.
Thanks to John's inspiration, I've revamped my layout, as seen below:
The first thing I did was lose all of the commentaries, and just use the passage guide to access them as needed (that alone saved me in load time). Then I rearranged stuff similar to how John had his. Got rid of all the extra Bibles and replaced them with a Text Comparison window (which is what I really needed anyway), and also made one for the Greek. I also moved my 2nd Bible (for xrefs, etc.) to the same panel as my Greek text to save on space.
This layout feels much cleaner and less cluttered. Plus, it's making it that much easier to read my commentaries without having to do a lot of scrolling. I even put a note in the image stating how I use the same layout without my 2nd monitor (which is basically just docking all the windows from the 2nd monitor into the same panel as my "blank" notes file.
Thanks again John!
Mark,
If only I could learn to pronounce "commentaries" the way you do I would be set.[:D]
LaRosa,
Glad you were able to extract something of value from the video.
John,
Brilliant! Very helpful. This tutorial is a very helpful demonstration of how to leverage the strengths of L4.
Thank you.

With Mark's accent he could say ANYTHING and sound great...it's like having James Earl Jones teach... [:D]
That is SO true! It's fantastic...and very calming...

LaRosa, the new layout is very clean. I have to use my little laptop screen for now but that second monitor is nice.
I didn't catch why you linked My Passage Guide to Set B.
Hi Russ,
It ties the the "cited by" tool to keep the focus of the study when using that tool. You don't have to do it that way, but it helps not having that tool following everywhere I go.
Thanks.
I'm giving a modified version a spin.
This really helped me see how to the Passage and Exegetical Guide tools can leverage the strengths of L4's design.

That's funny . . . I was thinking Mark might be the voice for the gecko on the Geico commercials.
I'm not so sure he's not REALLY Ken Ham.....
Sounds more like Michael Caine to me! Still I suppose a gecko is better than a meerkat...

The Geico gecko is much cooler than the meerkat.
I meant the comparison to be a compliment.
I know, thank you! [:)] Actually, the meerkat marketing campaign has made the meerkat very cool - in the UK at least. He has over 30,000 following him on Twitter, and more than 600,000 Facebook fans!
John, I totally enjoy your videos. Thank you for posting them!
Just wanted you to know that your tip on using the Word by Word section of the Exegetical Guide has revolutionized how I am using L4.
If I were Logos, I would make this section its own tool and promote as an alternative to Sympathetic Highlighting.
I was a bit underwhelmed by Sympathetic Highlighting because it is not as responsive as Accordance with its hover highlighting.
The Word by Word highlighting is competitive if not a bit better with its one click access to more Word study resources.
Thanks for your work on this.
I want to thank you and the others who have made videos showing us how to take full advantage of the new L4 layouts and other features. You guys are a tremendous help to us who are new users of L4. Keep up the fantastic work. May God richly bless you for your efforts.
It would be truly great to see this integrated as an option for the Text Comparison window.
Did you have to do anything special to have certain tools open up in certain areas of the workspace? For example, you mention that the far right is where you have grammars open. Then you open a grammar from the MEG and it opens on the right. Did you have to set that up, or is it automatic?
Hey Fred,
From what I've seen; L4 is designed to TRY and open "like resources" in their respective locations...commentaries with commentaries, bibles with bibles, lexicons with lexicons.
I just double checked using John's layout; yes...every "Greek Grammar" sort of resource that I clicked on in the EG opened up on the right "lexicon" pane.
Hi Fred,
It is automatic. Logos 4 tries to group texts together. The layout has reports on the left, so they open there automatically, bible texts in the center so they open there automatically and the other resources on the left. The system is not always perfect, but in this layout it works.
Thanks, Guys!
