Oh, so very close!

If you haven't bid yet on this collection of gems, bid soon. The last opportunity to get them for the CP price is Friday around noon Pacific Time. And it's so close to going down by as much as $10 (maybe even more) if only a few more people bid.
http://www.logos.com/product/15707/post-reformation-catholic-thought-and-piety
Includes the works and biographies of many great theological thinkers and pray-ers treasured by Protestants and Catholics alike: St. Teresa of Ávila, Saint John of the Cross, St. Jane Frances de Chantal, St. Francis de Sales, St. Alphonsus Liguori, St. Robert Bellarmine, and only that I haven't heard of: St. Peter Canisius and St. Lawrence of Brindisi.
Over 10,000 pages from the modern Doctors of the Church!
$80 is a bit steep (though not really, considering the volume of pages), but $70 is well within reach by Friday, and if you've bid $55 or less and $70 is still too much for you, bump your bid up to the very reasonable $60 and this might even go through at that price.

Peace to all! *smile*
A few more bids have the potential of saving all bidders perhaps as much as 20 (Twenty) dollars .... $20.00 is nothing to sneeze at in this economy......

Thanks for pushing this.
I just wish it looked a bit more likely to go down.

It does look possible: for those who bid $65, please consider adding $5 (or more) to your bid.fgh said:I just wish it looked a bit more likely to go down
For those still on the fence regarding whether they bid or not, please consider how most of Christianity highly regarded these classic but monumental writings on Christian living, obedience to God, burning love to God and neighbour, even true Christian mysticism and union with God. At least, they will add much value to your library, but they also have a great potential to influence you like they did me: helping deepen your relationship with God (by heaps and bounds in my case) and enrich your prayer life and your fire to evangelize others.

Would changing my bid from $80 to $70 help the $70 threshold go up?

No, every bid is a bid for every lower amount. Moving to $70 could lose you the set. Need those at $60 to find another $10.0 -
ever so close

Okay, I just raised my bid to $70 but that is as high as I'm willing to spend for this. If it makes it, great, if not, oh well.

There's an old saying ... "The Exception Proves the Rule!"
Dan, what do you say, please, that you consider extending this offering for one week? Just this once! You have often proved YOUR Good Will ... Maybe you'd like to do it again??? eh???
Yes, I know it will cost Logos some dollars; however, looking at where "the line" is, this may be something that you'd really love to do???
and ..... who knows ... you might sell enough extra copies that you could even "recover" your generosity "in one fell swoop"! *smile*

Peace to all! *smile*
Such a generous act could also be looked upon as an "object lesson" re. "Grace" -- Undeserved Mercy .....
Could such an action even be described as a "win-win" proposition???

This collection is just too valuable to miss out for the sake of less than 50c per volume.
Given the painfully slow progress, I am in at $80 just to make sure, in case it does not get enough last minute bidders to get it down to $70.
Maybe it will take just long enough to get into production that I can save the extra $10 for 27 volumes.... not worth the risk of missing it...0 -

Now, there is a good suggestion. [Y]

Yes, it really is beginning to look close now, especially for $75 -- but will it make it before noon?

I haven't bid on this one - and perhaps this is a reflection of my own education, but how would something like this benefit me as a soteriologically reformed baptist?

Peace, Brother! I am a Confessional Lutheran and cannot speak for you or others, but I'm interested in seeing how historically believers "strived" for the holy life (for various reasons, eh???) Some of these might be considered to be in the genre of this resource: "The Imitation of Christ" BY THOMAS À KEMPIS
I'd love to hear the comments of a few others, and I know I'm probably wrong on what I'm saying ............ however, from my vantage point I see some of the "Puritan" in these resources..... This is what I mean ....
Just went online to get a definition of "Puritan" -- and that's not easy, eh??? -- but this one sort of helps me make my point -- "Pu·ri·tan
n.1. A member of a group of English Protestants who in the 16th and 17th centuries advocated strict religious discipline along with simplification of the ceremonies and creeds of the Church of England.2. puritan One who lives in accordance with Protestant precepts, especially one who regards pleasure or luxury as sinful.adj.1. Of or relating to the Puritans or Puritanism.2. puritan Characteristic of a puritan; puritanical.[From Late Latinp
, purity (on the model of Medieval Latinrit
s
Kathari
, "the Pure Ones," a third-century sect of rigorist heretics), from Latinp
, pure; seerus
peu
in Indo-European roots.]-
It's very simplistic, of course, but in these writings I see the individual Christian "striving" for the Holy Life and sharing his/her struggles, failures, and successes! (Some of their goals are ours also -- the Desire for Closeness to God and Jesus Christ!)*smile*(

I just put a bid in at $70.

I just did a little experiment - I bid $80 and the "Projected Price" went down to $70, but the set did not go into pre-pub. It has got to be close. Note, I did cancel the order and the "Projected Price" returned to $80.
Blessings,

?? It already has crossed the 100% line, so the change in the suggested price is all that remains to be accomplished until 12.00 PST. Then Logos will manually or via script change the status to "in development" and then it will appear under PrePub rather than CP.Have joy in the Lord!

We've got a few more minutes left until bidding closes. Could it drop to $65? It's close to crossing the line.

12 Bellingham time is now, I believe. No minutes at all, unless they forget to close it on time. And $65 isn't even close.
EDIT: They didn't. Now it's $149,95.
