Will not sync

I am running Logos 5 on Windows 8 64-bit and I have not been able to sync for about a week. I have reinstalled Logos twice and cleared the history, but nothing has worked. I have another computer which has had no problem with syncing. I have attached all the log files.

I'm not really a techie, and I'm not near my computer to try and read your logs... But I do have a question for you. When you say that your computer isn't syncing, do you know that it isn't syncing, or is the sync wheel just giving you a warning? If its not syncing, what data is it?

Looked briefly at the error log, and it looks like it is unable to resolve several web addresses:
- readingplansapi.logos.com
- visualfiltersapi.logos.com
- wordlistsapi.logos.com
- usereventsapi.logos.com
- services.logos.com
- api.faithlife.com
I tried going to those addresses in a browser and got errors, but I'm not sure what to make of that. I'm able to sync fine, that is, I get no error if I click on the sync arrows.
Just a hunch, but I know that some other Internet-related problems in Logos (mostly having to do with infinite updates never finishing) have been solved by issuing the following command at a cmd prompt; I'm not sure if it's relevant here, but I don't think it could hurt to try.

We have several threads active right now with people suffering from sync problems. Yesterday Bradley said they are investigating the issue, but no update yet. I too have the (a?) problem with syncing of certain items and getting the yellow triangle.

There are many reasons to get the yellow triangle… One user's issue may not be the same as another. It's always good to have more information, like logs & what isn't syncing. Often people get worried when they see the yellow triangle, but everything of value is syncing fine.

I'd be happy to post logs. As I said, I may be experiencing the same issue.
I've been having trouble with the syncing for awhile now. Originally, I could clear the history daily, and this would solve the problem (though this isn't ideal!). More recently however, no matter how much or little history I have, the syncing happens continually. Occasionally, when I open the application, it says "syncing" and does so indefinitely, until I force quit (without any "start now" option). Other times (most times), I begin the program and it syncs the entire time it is open, draining resources and causing the computer's fans to run on high for a long time, and ultimately draining battery.
Also, I'm having to force quit the program frequently (because it's never quite done syncing).
I've opened and closed the program a couple of times and it's now running normally. I'll try to get it to act up again and will post logs shortly.

Don't try too hard! But the logs will be needed so we can discover which sync data is affected.
I requested info about Ross' fix for my own information, not because I was having problems.

…but no yellow triangle warnings? No other sync related issues? I'm not a full fledged techie, so we will need someone with more expertise to read your logs. I did see SyncManager lines with "success" afterwards… that's a good sign. [:)]

Hi Michelle,
I don't see anything anomalous in the logs. If the trouble you're having is regarding syncing and is not consistent the issue may be network related rather than something wrong with the program. It may just be dropping off the internet occasionally. If the problem is more persistent and is something you can replicate then please replicate the behavior and post logs immediately after the behavior appears along with a description--in detail--as to how you accomplished the sync error. I would also like to know what your network is like at home (i.e. how are you connecting to the internet on your local network).
If the problem is something else, and repeatable please make a new thread and post logs along with steps to replicate the behavior.

I have been having syncing problems off and on for a week now and have been posting my saga on this thread. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69753.aspx
Note that I have had 3 Level 2 techs look at my problem. Syncing seems to be fixed now by replacing files that may have been corrupted but I want the thousands of tags that I installed that are now gone. There were there until the tech "fixed" the problem and then they all disappeared. The issue is now in the hands of the "developers" to see if my tags can be retrieved again. If not I will have lost close to 24 hours of works.

Tommy: I am having a very persistent issue. I have a really nice internet connection at home, and experience the issue at home, work, and school. That being said, since the last SR, I've had less issues, so I'll wait to see how things go and will start a new thread and post logs next time the problem surfaces.

I am also experiencing syncing problems over the past few days, as well as a crash that's happening more and more frequently that says..."Logos has stopped working". I sorry for my ignorance but how do I post the logs that the above users requested to help investigate the problem?

In my signature line (just below this text you are reading now), I have two links - one for Windows, and another for Mac. Those links will take you to directions to enable logging. Once you have produced the logs, you will attach them to your post via the paperclip icon in the formatting pallet. If you still need more help, let us know.
PS - Please create a new thread. Your issue may be unrelated to the others and it is easier to follow the conversation with only one user requesting assistance.

I too have been experiencing sync problems. Specifically on my desktop computer running Windows 7 (32 bit) the sync error icon stays on most of the time. On my laptop running Vista this does not happen. Both machines are running Logos 5. The system does sync my reading plans from one to the other, going both ways. Attached are the log files, screen shots and system stats for the desktop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's the Library Catalog Sync that has affected others. You can use the fix described in that thread or you can wait (there is a risk of losing work you have done since it stopped syncing). Your database is
C:\Users\Robert J. Smith Sr\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\ypi5fe5j.3wo\LibraryCatalog\LibraryCatalogSync.db.

Thanks for the response, Dave. The Logos tech support tech I had on the phone yesterday said the same. He also said it was something out of kilter with my program preferences that caused the database to go south. He reloaded the perferences from the sync server and then the database rebuilt itself. It did take several hours, but it worked like a champ.

I've had a yellow triangle for about 10 days now. Guess I'll have to dig into it and find out why. It may be something similar to this.

If you look at Logos.log you should see one or more:
Warn SyncManager Not syncing client due to previous fatal error: Repository = (Libronix.DigitalLibrary.LibraryCatalogSyncManager+ ...
You can fix as per http://community.logos.com/forums/t/69793.aspx or let Tech Support handle it (preferably).

I did the nuclear option and it fixed things. I am going to wait until 5.1 comes out before I do any more tagging, as I lost some of it when I did this.

I may be having the same problem as you Donovan. Logos techs retrieved my tags that were lost on Wednesday and I went away for a long weekend where I worked on tagging more books while I was offline (since there was not internet where I was). I just returned and I have the yellow triangle again!!!
You should call customer service and speak to a tech about retrieving those tags. I'm going to do so again tomorrow if I can find time.
I sure hope that are able to fix this problem permanently in the near future.
