I just heard a great quote from Jeremy Taylor as part of the charge to the graduates at Regent College's convocation tonight: "Private devotions and secret offices of religion are like refreshing of a garden with the distilling and petty drops of a water-pot; but addresses to the temple, and serving God in the public communion of saints, is like rain from heaven." (Great Exemplar).
I rushed home to find it in Logos and it didn't turn up in a Search. Then I looked to see if perhaps Logos sells the works of Jeremy Taylor and I'd missed them in pre-pub or community pricing.
To my great joy, I had not missed out. In fact, coincidentally, a collection of works of Jeremy Taylor is in CP right now, gathering steam, and it is going for the incredibly reasonable price of $8. I jumped in. I think I'd skipped over it before because I'd never heard of Jeremy Taylor. Well now I have, and he's a gem, so I want this. And you should too.
Bid on it!
Very unfortunately it does not include the title that quote came from The Great Exemplar: or, The life of our ever-blessed Saviour Jesus Christ. Hope I can convince Logos to bring this one out sometime too.
