Bug: Exegetical Guide doesn't refresh when new resources added

I had no grammars, at least no grammars that the Exegetical Guide would look in. The "Grammars" section was always grey. So, after watching John Fidel's new video on his favorite layout, I decided to buy the two grammars that showed up in his example. After downloading them and restarting Logos and reindexing and all that, I noticed that "Grammars" was still grey in my Exegetical Guide.

I clicked in the reference box and clicked on on the right-arrow to the right of the passage reference, thinking I could force Logos to refresh the guide this way, but nothing changed. Only when I went to a different Bible verse did the Grammars section finally get un-greyed.

Expect: Addition of new resources to force a refresh of any guides that would be affected by their being there.

What if you removed the grammar section using the "X" and then re-added it? Also if you right click on the grammar heading does it give you an option for "Refresh". You can also hit F5 to refresh the whole guide. I think refreshing the whole guide destroys any notes you've added to the guide though. So far refreshing a section for me using the right click option maintains my notes for that section.

Sorry about that. I just checked the Right Click option on one of my grayed out sections. There were no right click options. I would suggest that the grayed out sections need all the options of the regular sections except "Expand".

The other thought came to mind that it could refresh any grayed out sections every time the guide opens. I don't know if I would want it to automatically refresh any sections - Especially the Commentary and apparatus section where I have deleted unwanted commentaries.

Yes, no doubt there were other ways I might have been able to force a refresh than switching to a different verse and back again (I can't try your suggestions out since the Grammars section is no longer greyed out for me). But my point was the software should be able to sense when it needs to force a refresh (after re-indexing, for example) and do it automatically.

Doesn't seem to destroy the notes when I try it. That would be pretty unconscionable if it did!

It does seem pretty possible to me too. I prefer it put a little refresh symbol on the section header, though. I would settle for "refreshing may add resources." Just because a grammar was added doesn't mean the passage you are looking at would be a hit inside the resource. This would especially be true of commentaries. If I had a commentary on Job the refresh code would have to be able to say "since this is a guide on Psalms, I don't need to worry about that commentary." My ideal, to save the code slowing anything down, would be for the a refresh button for say the commentary section that is added to the header anytime any commentary is added to the collection. when hovering over the refresh button a list of those commentaries would be displayed, and clicking on the refresh button would refresh the resources. If it could remember the one's I've deleted and stared that would be great!

Yes, that's a better idea. Let the user know there might be a need for a refresh, but let the user decide when/whether to do it. But make it clear in the UI how to do a refresh in case one might needed. A button is a good idea.
