startup

I have just installed Logos 5 on a new Vaio i5 laptop -- I have the same package on 2 other PC's - but the startup on the new laptop is very slow -- about 2 minutes?
Once loaded it is great.
Any suggestions for speeding this up please?
thanks,

what are the specs on your new computer? Is it a netbook?

What is the speed of your hard disk? Is it an HDD or an SSD, and if it's an HDD is it 5400 rpm or 7500 rpm. It may be a slow disk at 5400 rpm trying to load a large library.

Thank you for your replies -- yes I have checked and the HDD is 5400 rpm so that is the reason for slow start-up -- once up and running it is very good!

It would be part of the reason as going from 5400 to 7200 RPM may reduce the startup by 20s, but what is your expectation?
What do you have in your layout when you load Logos e.g. how many resources and guides. If searches are running when you startup ensure the Search tab is not open when you exit. How much RAM on the machine and how big is the HDD?

Thank you Dave,
I do have a very large library and usually make sure it is all closed down - I will get my PC supplier to check it out as sometimes it takes 3-4 minutes or even longer to load Logos 5
it is a reasonable high spec'd system core i5 750GB HDD - 6GB ram - so there could be a faulty ram or the HDD itself - it is only load-up though, once it is loaded it runs okay.I do appreciate the help though,

That is not an issue - it's what part of the library is loaded when you start Logos (as per my question above). Start Logos with Ctrl key held down and quit sometime after it has fully loaded. You can then upload Logos.log as per http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging.

Thanks, the issue now seems to have resolved itself -- start-up is now much quicker - seems after last update and download it is now okay.
